My Model E arrived from the bay. I’m very pleased with it, it fits well and only weighs 6 lbs, which isn’t too heavy for an E. The main zip has been replaced leaving some parallel stitch marks (well spotted @Monitor), and there’s a very small paint mark on the shoulder you’d have to look for to find which doesn't bother me too much. The leather’s the good old fashioned comp weight from a few years back and matches my old comp weight Enfield well! I’m very impressed by the fact that the mouton collar has nine snaps connecting it to the collar.
The leather dressing didn’t turn up sadly.

Cheers, I think this as well. It’s old comp weight leather as well, sweet as.Best one yet!
http://www.policemotorunits.com/the-meaning-of-the-wing-wheel.htmlYeah I've had a couple Vansons with this patch. I believe it's an east coast PD thing. I dig it too. Especially b/c it's grubby.
I like that Winged Wheel patch.
Apologies for the late reply. My Model E shipped today... it'll likely be delivered so that I'll have it when I return from work next Friday.
I can’t say I’m thrilled with the Model E I ended up with.
It’s very new and very stiff and, maybe a bit too big even though it’s tagged 42 which is where I seem to land most of the time.
Apologies for the late reply.
I responded to your DM, answering your questions and explaining a bit of my feelings about my Model E.
I hope you are happy and post pix.
Cheers.
Righteous! Great idea.No problem. I opened up the Model E on Friday as expected, and it's too tight (size 40). I feel like it's much tighter than my size 38 Model B... which is broken in... but still. In theory they have the exact same 6.5" chest ease. It doesn't feel the case with the E, for me personally.
I plan on returning it. You're welcome to slip it on if you think the 42 is too large. Perhaps we could swap? I'll be returning this weekend otherwise since I don't want Vanson to think I've been wearing it / testing it out. They are easy to work with for exchanges.
Righteous! Great idea.
I thought you were getting a 42, but I guess I couldn’t keep up who’s who with all the various posts of everyone.
Interesting that your 38 feels looser than the 42. Did you try loosening the side laces? I tightened mine up a lot to try to get a more fitted, less boxy feel.
Mine says 42.
Let me know where and when we can meet to trade for a try-on.
If neither works for either then I guess it’s back to the ether for both. Hopefully we learn something.
Man do I love this one. I think it’s a good place to hang my hat with the model E. I’ve never had one with a brown base. I pretty much wasted a day staring at it. I won’t spam the board any further, but needless to say I’m happy as a pig in Sh!t!
