No, this one is now too well established. If merged, the responses might not be in the proper place because of the date posted. Had I caught it back in October when first started, merging would have been the proper course.

so that's what people mean when they talk about old comp weight! The old vansons I've seen have leather on par with the japanese makers whereas the new leathers are functional but not nearly as good looking- a real shame that the factory burned down (though I'm surprised they couldn't find another manufacture of a similar calibre)

I prefer old school to the horsehide and steerhide from Aero (horween).Hate premature aging,colour loss,etc,,That's why I've moved them all on.imo early comp weight can't be beaten. Especially for m/c jackets.

I had to look him up as I had zero knowledge, I see what you are saying. On the other hand, I live in Florida so it’s passable or maybe Magnum PI ish. Either way it’s awesome leather.

Is your comet a 42 or 44,could you measure the back please. There's one on ebay here a 44,and seller is quoting 22.047back ,,18.5 shoulder ,,and 18.5 pit to pit lol.ive messaged her ask to take measurements again ,seems it fits her husband who is a 44xl ??

Thanks Andy, I knew that 18in p2p was miles out, also 22in back is wrong,ps,I wasn't thinking about buying it,theres only one jacket i have my eye on cheers Peter

Sorry but no. The jacket was a small numbers production. Tt is an old design, very similar to the latest cycle champ from HD. However, the hardware is better, and the leather is just their old school comp weight finished in a very nice smooth way. It does not have a Vanson label, but it was told by HD Museum rep. Furthermore, the jacket does look like a Vanson product. During that visit to the museum, I purchased two. One for my daughter and one for me. The jacket does have exceptional leather and smoth silky red lining. I believe I posted an image on this site some years back. Lastly, they reproduce the belt with an HD wing embossing as the originals did. However, the embossing looks different to the real deal. I have one and the art is Art Deco influenced.
