Tom James comes to your home or office and sells RTW and MTM clothing. They are a subsidiary of Individualized Apparel Group which owns Oxxford, H. Freeman, Gitman Brothers, Corbin and several other makers. The shirts are probably made by Individualized Shirts, one of their shirtmakers. It's a decent quality shirt but as with all MTM/Bespoke clothing, it's all about the fit and the fit can vary greatly depending on the expertise of your fitter. They visit various firms in my office building so I've seen their work, sometimes good and sometimes not so good.

This is where you will find my pattern, resting on a dusty shelf in Jermyn Street. It awaits my clarion call to the excellent and accommodating Mr Harvie "Please make up 3 shirts in Tattersall Check to my usual pattern and forward at once to me in New Zealand!"

Perhaps the finest gentleman's shirts found anywhere; I highly recommend them. I have 6 cotton flannel Tattersalls (despite a price tag of almost 200 GBP each!)

They have a 3 1/4" point collar, a good 1/2" longer than typical these days, and even a "continental" collar with a little outcurve, which is just about unheard of anymore even in made to measure.

Is that a good or bad thing? (not sure what is in/out in terms of men's shirt styles)

I could be completely wrong....

But I think my husband ordered some shirts there, oh, about 15-20 (?) years ago. They were great shirts, looked great, he wore them out.

Been using them here in Louisville for about 15 yrs.
The fit and finish of the shirts have been great.
I still use them and would recommed that you give them a try.

Both good, if you seek a 1930s-40s look. Collars were longer then, and usually had the outcurve, rather than being cut straight along the bottom edge.

Today, the most accepted dressy collar seems to be semispread or spread. In Britain particularly, it is pretty much the only correct style for business dress.

Moderate spread by Thomas Pink
This style shirt was popular in the mid 40s-early 50s, mostly in solids or fine patterns.
