The Tilley Fedora is now out... are any of you guys going to purchase it? I have never dealt with Tilley, but they have a great reputation for backing their product. I am thinking of getting one just because of that... and I would like a hat I can wear every day. What do you all think?

I have yet to see it yet but have a sample on its way. If you want something that is practically indestructable through normal use every other tilley I have ever seen is just that. But I can't give it a yes or a no until I put my hands on it.

What color?

Acidshort, what color did you order? Were two colors available?

I found a photo of the Tilley fedora and they showed two colors in the photo, but only one color was available. I think the color that was available was khaki, and the other color was not mentioned. I think it might have been an olive or loden green. I do not recall what website it was on.

Tilley?

What! A Tilley made in America?! A Tilley Fedora?! Damnit I guess I will have to stop by the store on the way home from work tomorrow. See what its like. Maybe this will be a good hat to take to Scotland at the end of the month... Hmm. Good to know.

I got the Tilley Fedora in today... and I like it. It has a nice fit and feels nice on my head. The secret pocket is kinda flimsy, I wouldn't put anything more than some dollar bills in it, and the ear warmers are quite nice. I will have to see how it works in the winter. I will put up some pictures of the hat in a bit. Has anyone else seen the hat?

A Real Fedora?

I'd love to see pics of this as well. I wear a Tilley bucket style cap for golf, to the beach, that sort of thing, and I do like the durability of it. What's the fedora made of? Would love to know more!

Does it matter?
The Tilley Fedora is a nice hat. Once we received our delivery the designer at Tilley called and we talked about the hat and I offered a couple suggestions for improving it next year. I think the pinch in the crown could be a little more defined. I also think it could use a little thicker sweatband. They currently use the same sweat they use in their cotton summer hats. Despite these two minor things about 75% of customers who've tried it on have bought it. Personally, the guarantee alone is worth buying the hat. When was the last time you bought a fur felt hat with a lifetime guarantee.

Here's a pic for those who haven't seen it.

Mmm it still kind of looks like a bucket to me lol. Not too bad though, and the gaurantee can't be beat :)

Looks like an upended gravy boat to me. Tilley hats really do look like they were designed in Canada. lol

tilly fedora

I recieved mine several weeks ago. the colour choice was black or pale beige, I wouldnt normally have picked either, but went for the black. Its a nice hat.the ear warmer thing , which folds up inside makes it difficult to get a good fit both up and down.I bought it because of the tilly reputation. The design is very tilly, so should make a useful everyday hat. the booklet tells me that it comes with a feather, mine didnt, but I guess I can live with that. Its a good well made hat.

I sent mine back!

I ordered one because of Tilley's good reputation. It spent one night in my house and was back in the box being returned the next morning. None of my decision to return it had to do with the quality. I just didn't like it.

Definitely get a size larger if you plan on wearing it with the ear flaps hidden. The size is closer to being correct with the flaps down, but it still seemed a bit small.

I did not care for the color or the shape of the hat. I did not want black, so ordered tan. It's hard to describe color, and I suppose it comes down to personal taste, but it was not for me. Maybe hanging out here in the fedora lounge has spoiled me, but seeing this hat in person.... let's say it did not say "fedora" to me. It remained true to it's Tilley roots. Perhaps they should advertise it as a fedora-flavored Tilley?

I think some here will like it, and there is nothing wrong with the hat. It just wasn't for me.
