Thoughts on adding leather trim to a wool vest

I really like the look of wool vests with leather pocket trim, and I'm thinking about adding leather trim to this Schaefer cattle baron that came in the other day.

With the way the pockets are kind of framed, I think it would be extremely easy for me to just saddle stitch a strip of leather over the pocket hems on this one.
I am thinking something in a medium tobacco brown color, a glove leather would probably be ideal.
So what do you think, would you try it ?
I really don't think sending this vest to a professional is really necessary, I figure I could probably knock it out in half an hour.
If I mess up, I'll bet the holes wouldn't even be noticeable and if I really mess up the vest I barely payed $50, shipped for it.

I like it, it could match with your shoes. I’m all for customizing and personalizing clothes, as long as it doesn’t become too much (too many colors in an outfit, I usually stay 3 colors or less).

I think tan leather would look good with the gray vest like yours. To be clear, I was thinking a small horizontal leather trim across the pocket. These could be you:

This Golden Bear posted by Jmax in my vest thread really inspired me.

The particular vest itself isn't really the type of vest I like, but that leather pocket trim looks amazing.

I didn't know this was a thing, my girlfriend calls it a bit ****ty, i just wonder why anyone would wear that with a perfectly good belt on.

I can see her point, it's a bit Lara Croft...

The only people I’ve seen in real life that wear leather suspenders are photographers and bartenders (or was it a leather apron that the bartenders were wearing, I can’t recall. It was something leather.) It’s a thing and I’ve seen them pull it off.

I think your gf has seen a bit too much of Magic Mike… not everything-leather has to be ***ualized or has a ***ual connotation. But to her point, the buffer you are and the tighter your clothes fit, the more you should stay away from leather.

Sure, a leather harness to carry two heavy DSLRs makes sens, a leather harness to carry a pair of skinny jeans seems excessive....

If adding leather trim, consider how well the leather trim comports to original (Mfr's) cleaning requirements/procedure for the underlying garment.

It's wool and Schaefer used to make a couple models from the same materials with leather pocket trim, so I'm not worried.
As long as I don't spill anything on it, I don't think I'll ever really need to get it cleaned.

The only issue I could see with that locally is not all our local dry-cleaners will take items with leather trim. I've found that an issue with some of my caps with leather bands in them that need cleaned.

I Don't even know where there's a dry cleaner, and my plan is to just not get it dirty enough to need dry cleaning.

I have already Added the leather trim to the two lower pockets, and am deciding on whether I should leave it at that or add to the upper pockets as well.

I'd match all the pockets, personally.
