Herringbone!

Raleigh or Schwinn? :D

Clearly you are paying attention as TF was typing concomitantly and beat me by seconds.

Absolutely on the Herringbone - greatest pattern ever (I own everything from sneakers, socks, pants, shirts, ties, jackets, overcoats, scarfs and hats with a herringbone pattern).

But, new shooter, so:

Road bike, as not too many mountains on this crazy island I live on. :)

Biking or Hiking?

Early morning sunrise (by sunset, on vacation when I'd be hiking, the only exercise I want is lifting my drink glass up).

Flatland or mountain hiking?

Mountain hiking in Yosemite.
Never knew until I went there that even in summer the snow melting
from the mountains into the bottom river waters is so cold that
it’s impossible to go for a swim & be comfortable.
Unless you’re a member of the “Polar Bear” club.

With all those trees, the area had a smell similar to a real Christmas tree.
At least it did for me.

Fishing or surfing at the ocean?

Only 17 more weeks until Christmas. ;)

Now I want to go hiking in Yosemite. You had me, but sealed the deal with the "smell similar to a real Christmas Tree."

Since I neither fish nor surf (but think I might like fly fishing if I ever have a chance to try it / surfing too, but don't know about taking that up at 52) I will defer your 'this or that' to somebody who actually does those things.

The scent of the trees is not overpowering of Christmas,
it’s just my way of expressing it.
It is refreshing & pleasant nevertheless.
I do believe you would enjoy it.

I like the idea of fly-fishing.
Mostly the way the line is thrown into the water.
Takes a certain skill of the hand or wrist, I would imagine.

Someday perhaps with fishing gear & tackle head up North.
Even if I only catch a cold...

I believe it would be grand!

Fishing or surfing in the ocean?

(Neither is not an option!) :p

⇧ Ever since I saw "A River Runs Through It" (which I only saw +/- 10 years ago, despite it being much older than that), I thought I would like it for the reasons you mention. My girlfriend's father very quietly took it up when his health issues prevented him from sailing - his life long passion - and seems to enjoy it.

And I think I understand you on the Xmas tree scent - more redolent than overpowering, a much better way to experience the connect, IMHO.

⇧ In my fantasy life, that would be my fly fishing experience. I don't think I've ever had as perfect a moment / as beautiful a moment as that.

Back on earth, in Fading Fast's world, I'd probably get the fly stuck in the back of my neck and end up with the paramedics explaining to me how to dress the wound going forward :(.

And as to surfing, see fly fishing comment above and multiply by ten.

Fishing, dry fly Salmon or Trout.
Used to chase waves and wahinies at Kaneohe Beach, Oahu. Once walked inside a Honolulu employment office to apply for work and the clerk said I looked like a haole surf bum. And I told him I was a haole surf bum.

Wakkiki Beach or Kaneohe Beach?
