This or That

If I have to choose, "a-ha," but college cured me of those type of groups. Here's an inside Rolling Stones one:

Keith Richards singing his less-famous song "Connections" or "You Got the Silver" (proving that you don't even need to really have vocal cords left to deliver a song with passion if your talent for and love of music is to-your-soul deep)?

You got the silver.

On your day off from work. Time is not relevant, driving to a favorite place out of town and you have these options.
Which would you prefer to get there?

Freeway fast?

Back-roads cruise ?

Back roads, or at most two-lane routes. I despise freeways, interstates, cloverleafs, four-lanes, and all the rest of that mess. If I never had to drive over 40 mph the rest of my life I'd be very very happy.

Start your car with a key or start your car with a pedal on the floor?

Once the Fatus Catus knows I'm awake, staying in bed is not an option.

Go to work early in the morning or get home from work late at night?

Must be a cat thing....Polo feels the same way!

Early to work if possible.

I don’t mind late work or double shifts if needed.

What do you value most in a friend?

Honesty?

Trust?

Canister which Polo hates with a passion.

It’s your day off with nothing pending (if such a thing is possible).

Get out of bed as if you were going to work?

Stay in bed & sleep a tad longer before getting up?

Snuggle up and enjoy the moments of peace.

Baker.

Josh Gibson?
Satchel Paige?

Paige. I grew up in Cleveland to the tales of those legendary Indians seasons, and as an adult befriended a number of the surviving members of his old House of David team. Paige did not grow out his beard, by the way. He wore false whiskers when playing for the Israelites. Quite a funny picture, too. Oh, well, they are all gone, now. Every blessed one of them!

William Allen White or James M. Cox?

White, especially post-1939.

Howard Scott or Dr. Francis Townsend?

Speaking of the House of David, long-time Red Sox third base coach Eddie Popowski played for them in the mid-1930s, and was too young to grow a beard. But he did learn their ball-handling routines, and made free use of them in his famous "Popowski Flip."
