Thinking about a work of Art

I'm going through the same internal debate. I already have a couple of hats in gray (not from Art), so I was thinking of something like camel to go with some of the wardrobe (olive green or brown) that wouldn't go well with a gray hat. Art recommended dark moss. I had been thinking of a lighter color. What to do, what to do?

Take a look at his 'natural' color. It will go well with any earth tone but also fit well with gray. It's a real chameleon.

Thanks Alan. That is one of the colors I'll talk to him about next time I call him. He can do so much with color combinations of hat and ribbon it opens up a lot of possibilities. The reason I started out thinking camel was because I love the color combination in his Peach Melba. I don't want a porkpie, but that is a great looking hat.

This is Art's prototype 'Artlite'/lightweight felt (aka Tropicaire) in natural. I'm pretty sure he has it in dress weight, too, if that's what you're after:

Thats the thing about Arts hats. Each new one I see is my favorite. I haven't seen a hat of his that wasn't amazing, regardless of the color. I had a hard time picking a color, but I think with the next one I may just ask Art to make a hat with no color preference and see what happens.[huh]

The Artlite in natural looks great. But then I see the one in sand, and that looks great too! I guess the easy answer is to get more hats from Art. The hard question is what to get in this first one!

Modification on idea:
Steel body fairly high crown, moderate rake, wide brim.
dark ribbon (steel,slate) bound brim
silver ribbon with a single vertical stripe of dark red in the middle of the bow knot.
Red liner

How does this sound to people?

That's the beauty of one of Art's hat. It doesn't matter how it sounds to anyone else - YOU can go for it however YOU want it with Art. So order it and when it comes in, remember you have to post pix here for everyone to enjoy.

I'm still trying to get opinions on how people think it will look and possibly some suggestions as well. This is still in the development phase. So, how does it look in the minds eye of all you people out there?

I like the way you are headed with this one. The shades of grey and silver with the slight red accent would look pretty sharp.:eusa_clap

Another idea

Idea number 2:
Granite body, ribbon a little darker (but not too much darker) than the body, some accent color in the bow.
It would probably be a little more versatile than a steel hat.
A question for people, how do you think the steel would work with a darker outfit (something like charcoal).

Thanks

I think it would be fine. I generally think people worry too much about matching hats with their clothes. You want to coordinate, not necessarily 'match'.

With the ribbon and bow, give Art a general idea what you want and let him tend to the details. It will turn out better than you imagine it will.

I have Art's Granite and wear it with everything, Black ribbon with silver in the bow.

Excellent choice in colors IC. It does go with everything and what better way to enjoy an Art Fawcett hat than to wear it with everything. :eusa_clap

Thank you guys for showing my Art's hats! The hats in his gallery and the client gallery are beautiful, but where are you guys seeing some of the colors?
I see the color listed in description, but didn't see granite.

Art sends out felt samples with the conformer when you begin the order process. He has quite the selection of colors.
