Vidalia onion growers have protected their brand, and today all onions labelled Vidalia must be grown in one of thirteen different counties in Georgia or in specific portions of seven other counties. Because of their taste and reputation, they are able to command an increased price in the marketplace.

Then there are Walla Walla onions, on par or excell Vidalias.

My avatar is my G-granddad Uriah Lee, born in Dodge County, GA. in 1873. The family later ended up in Florida, where I come from.

My Great-great-great grandfather married Elizabeth Ann Pattillo who is related to founders of Houston County, just 1 county over from Dodge County.
Will have to see if any branches of the family tree spreads that way.

1953: The Frisco Railroad moved Frisco 4-8-4 Northen class locomotive # 4524 to the Railroad Historical Museum in Grant Beach Park, Springfield, MO. The engine moved under its own power with compressed air. They would moved the track sections from the back to the front and inch her forward to the park. The several block move down city streets took ten days. This was the Frisco's last steam locomotive.

In addition to Gardel, lyricist Alfredo LePera who co-wrote many of Gardel's songs and all but one of his guitarists who accompanied him on his recordings, were killed in the same crash. In this recording Gardel is accompanied by one of the guitarists, Guillermo Barbieri, who also wrote this song.
