Okay, I have made several posts on Facebook alongside a continuous search for the perfect summer hat. I have landed on one that has been increasingly raising my cortisol levels probably as a result of continuing this seemingly pointless search. The first I really saw of this hat was in the Paul Newman movie, The Long, Hot summer, and it consists of an extremely rare construction for the cotton traveler fedoras I have seen that companies still make. It is unique in the fact that, like most felt and Panama straw fedoras, starts its life with an open crown. This is done with four panels sewn to make the dome we are all probably familiar with seeing.

Alongside my posts I have learned a lot. I know that JC Penney and Bee Hat Co. made a style of hat similar to match the sets that the company Big Mac made (i.e. cotton twill shirt and pants) in a variety of colors.

My issue comes down to tracking these items down. I found a French website that sells a relatively new model or the same design in a beautiful taupe color. I bought it and have been rocking it all summer long. My problem now is that I don’t think they make the crown tall enough to fit my big head. The shape I have it in currently keeps popping out of the back. I’ve looked on eBay and Etsy for originals with no luck using key words for brand name and stuff like that. In addition to that I contacted many an Etsy shop to no avail in someone taking my custom request.

Can anyone help me in any way to solve this catastrophe? (It’s not that serious) I would be forever greatful, thank you!
