What a good idea!

A lot more than the US vendors. But comparable if I'm to be hit with a customs charge.

I'm going to toss a coin come payday... maybe even in their direction.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with this if you go for it, as I quite fancy that style myself for an alternative to my Burberry. Much as I love the Burb, it doesn't quite 'go' with casual wear the same. I think the Gunner style would work with a more casual ensemble in the same way that an A2 (as opposed to an equivalent formal overcoat) might.

Interesting, I've seen this same coat in Paris at Doursoux, they were asking more than 300 Euros for it...

I went and got one of these. Now this is more to my taste, but a funny kind of coat, as well. In fact it is not a coat, but a seriously long jacket. I have a Swedish army motorcycle jacket, this is simply a long version of that.

The material is thick, rubberized, the rubber smell really there. Everything about this coat reminds me of the stuff we had when I did my military service. Very utilitarian, but this coat happens also to be be somewhat stylish. Anyway, walking around in Geneva today wearing this coat in pouring rain I got many envious looks. Or then again, possibly they simply thought that I was deranged....

Now, what exactly is "rubberized cotton" like? This is something I've never experienced first hand...I would imagine it's like an oilskin type of thing? It's not actually rubbery, is it?

It's just like it sounds: cotton canvas with the smell and feel of rubber. It's a heavy material and an acquired taste. You'll either love it or hate it.

These Danish coats don't smell quite like a wartime Don-R coat, though...
