And if you read my comment, you'll see there's a winking smiley face at the end. That means it's a joke.

It happens to the best of us. :p:D
Forensically speaking, I've done the Minefield Merengue a few times myself.

Yes, also known at P T Physical Training. Not my favorite subject at all. Our P T Masters where very loud and quite strict, not that is a bad thing. I just was not very good at it, except long distance running, which I hated, but they "Volunteered" me into the school teams and refusal was not an option. Trying to skive off/play hookey, would result in detentions and having to write lines etc.

I reached six foot when I was 13, and found myself being "volunteered" for the rugby team.
If any of us tried to skive off, we were sent off with bin bags to pick up rubbish from the grounds.

Yes, we sometimes ended up doing a litter picking up patrol too for an hour or so after school in all weathers. At least doing lines you were indoors. Mind you these days, the kids would no doubt complain about their "Human Rights" if made to do these impositions. Some one I heard about was complaining that he got detention a while ago at secondary school, but it was just for 10 minutes! Hardly worth bothering about, they should have been in my school in the 1960s & 1970s, where it was for a minimum of 30 minutes, but usually for 1 - 2 hours!

I won't even mention the fool fathers that take their sons to houses of ill repute to experience the birds and the bees.:eusa_doh:

That's been done for hundreds of years, if not thousands. In more modern cases, the fathers sometimes suspect that their sons may be gay, and they think that an escorted --or forced-- visit (or two) to houses of ill repute can "convert" the boys into "men".

That still doesn't make it right or less foolish.
They can suspect but they might as well ask and save themselves the money. :p

Regarding cussing: my father was a newly-minted U.S. Naval officer in the early '60s. Among his fellow young officers, Dad discovered that cussing was the "in" thing. (Not tattoos, though: those were strictly for sailors and NCOs.) One day, a well-respected senior officer/WWII combat vet on the ship overheard my father say a cuss word. He walked over to my Dad and said, "Son, that doesn't suit you. It brings you down."

Those few quiet words hit home. My father felt ashamed of his actions and (he says) never, ever used cuss words again while in service. In fact, I can hardly remember hearing him cuss at all, and definitely not when I was a kid.

After school, or instead of games? I remember one teacher "punished" the poor effort I and a couple of friends made at a long run by ordering us to repeat it for the rest of the lesson while others played football (this was a separate incident to my proud 23 minute 1600metres). "I don't care how long you take, you'll finish it...". I was delighted - a totally legitimised stroll for the rest of the "lesson" instead of being forced to be involved in a game of hated soccer? Yes please!

A 23 minute mile?! Geez, the women's world record is 4 minutes. I think you hold the record for the slowest mile. lol

The annual cross country run at school was an excuse for a picnic for me!

Common punishments were picking up rubbish, cleaning guns and polishing boots - I was a good girl at school!

Mr. Harris my math teacher in 7th grade was also in charge of detention in which very often the defaulter would be handed a cardboard box and made to pick up trash in the quad area. One of Mr. Harris's favorite expressions was "Did you say trash box?"

I hated ice-skating and our teacher would force us to go round, round the hockey ring. I exercised my right to go slooooooow. The next lesson, our teacher said "All right, everyone; 8 rounds. Except [me]. She only has to do 4." I viewed that as a total victory.

Still, it was better than my earlier gym teacher who forced us to do nothing but gymnastics for four years. As I remember it, it was four years hanging upside down from a bar. The only thing that "education" prepared me for was a life as a bat in a cave.

No, I said nothing about your desk." :p

In grade school there was this teacher I had that gave us math assignments as punishment. I had done every assignment on the board and made copies so I would just hand in the copy after a while. Thinking about it now, I could have made some serious money selling the copies. :p Math Assignment!

And then Mr. Jackson the Spanish teacher would make you do pushups if you were late for class. :p

Late I never was. That was the least of my worries. :p
It does remind me though. One child at my sons' school is ALWAYS late. I suppose that wouldn't be a problem in the local public school but it is at the parochial school. A few more of those and it either costs him money or time. :p
I like taking my son to a school with standards, dress, tardiness, bad behavior etc., etc. are dealt with quickly. :p
