I've had a lot of these shawl collar mackinaws over the years, but this one's pretty special. There are lots of subtle variations from one maker to another, and changes in pattern from the late 1920s, when this style was introduced, to the early 1940s, when it was discontinued- I think I have yet to see two that are identical. The buttoned, sharply pointed pocket flaps on this one, its high button stance, the design of its epaulettes, are all unique to this example, and are wildly different than the standard patter, which you can see a number of examples of in this thread. I would say this one dates to the mid 1930s.
