Who ended up with them? Was there an auction?

There are still bits of the mahogany appointments from Luchow's in NYC floating around; it closed in the early 80's, after a hundred year run.

I don't know who ended up with them and there wasn't an auction as far as I know. They kept it very quiet because there was a back-lash when the news went public a year ago. So when it was time, they simply closed it and gutted it.
I am certain that all of that carved oak and marble is somewhere. No one would just throw it away.

I had dinner and breakfast at the new Oak room when I stayed at the Fairmont after I posted above.

I would definitely return to the Fairmont for a visit- lovely.

I will not return to the Oak room. The service was friendly but not four star, not even close. The food was acceptable but very expensive. They were playing a mix of some kind of thumping techno music and abrasive jazz.
