Like many here, I have way too many jackets and sometimes forget certain jackets. I remembered I had a Bronson N-1 (think it was the 2nd generation version) and started to wear it. It's become my go-to cold weather jacket and seems to handle pretty much anything upstate NY can throw at it. I have a N-3B that I wear a few times each winter when it gets dangerously cold - but the N-1 is a beast, looks great, and is easier to put on than the N-3B.

Would someone mind sharing photos of how the knits are attached in the sleeves?

Mine are sewn in oddly, and I’m thinking of replacing them with ones that match closer in color.

They could be sewn either way. Sewn to the lining then flipped then topstitched then the whole lining gets sewn to the shell. Top one (N-1). Knit cuff is sewn onto the lining using the serger machine after the lining is sewn to the shell. Bottom one (AL-1)
If the maker doesn’t have the multi thread serger machine then they’d have to use the top method I guess. When finished properly both methods works without itching on the wrist.

What I like about the Silverman's is the shell made from heavy, stiff, coarse canvas. I highly doubt that it is historically accurate, but I am a sucker for heavy canvas. I now have two Silvermans (I know, I know), and maybe will wax one. Lol.

Looks like someone has removed and reattatched them, looks not normal to me.

Here's a Buzz Rickson one I got recently.
Love the body length, sleeves could be a bit longer.
Way too much room in the waist and bottom hem (draw strings help in the latter case).
I might commit blasphemy and get it tapered at my tailors.
A bit disappointed with the rather thin (vs my expectations) alpaca/wool liner as well.
Not too warm by itself, but maybe a bit warmer than my leather jackets, hard to say.
So yeah, mixed feelings and future plans regarding this one.
I'd be a lot more confident about tailoring and keeping it if it was khaki and had longer sleeves.
Also what's up with the hanger loops at the armpits?

Not sure if this was answered yet, but the armpit loops are for the N-1 Deck bibs to fasten to.

Originally, I got the Real Mccoy N1 Deck Navy version (MJ21105) in size 36 but I find it a bit too tight to wear anything besides my Uniqlo ultra warm heat tech. The gussets were digging up into my armpit and the sleeves were too short. I couldn't even button up the neck collar. So I decided to size up.

Unable to find a size 38 in the Navy, I opt for a size 38 in the Khaki version (MJ22114). The body is wider and I can layer much more. It doesn't dig into my armpit anymore and the sleeve length is just right.

Below is the fit pic. Underneath I am wearing an ultrawarm heat tech from Uniqlo and a Momotaro Indigo Jacquard Sashiko Shirt

What do y'all think about the fit? Is it too large for me?

One thing I noticed between the Navy and Khaki besides the Navy having the slimmer fit, the Khaki has no belt loop and no alpaca pile in sleeve inner cuffs, is I find the Khaki is not as thick as the Navy version.

I don't know if I am thinking too much but I feel like the Navy version has a thicker alpaca/wool pile and heavier in general. Correct me if I am wrong but I find the Navy version to be warmer because of this.

That looks amazing fit wise in my eyes, I personally had some trouble with N1-jackets to get a great look without it feeling tight over the chest/under the arms, but I wouldn't say it looks to big on you mate rather it looks about perfect!

I would be very happy with that fit, and use the jacket with a t-shirt or similar to the heat-tech you said

Fits great, looks great. Ive got both the Navy and Khaki RMC N-1 and there is a difference in feel - though comparing back to back the alpaca pile is the same on both, it is the outer shell material on the Navy one whch feels slightly stiffer/thicker. In terms of warmth, I can say that there is no discernible difference between the two - I swap between them quite regularly and I can detect no change.
