Rainbow Country Car Coat Sizing

Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying a Rainbow Country Spider Car Coat in a size 40 as that is the only size in stock, but as I have not previously bought from the brand before, I was wondering if I could get some insight into sizing from anyone who may own this.

In theory, the measurements are good, but I've never tried on a car coat style leather jacket so I'm not sure how it fits compared to rider's jackets.

For reference, I have a Fine Creek jacket single riders in a 42 that fits nearly too tight, and an RMC J24 in a 40 that fits perfectly (but fitted). I'm 182cm and 79kg.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

I assume size 40 will be too small for you. There are 42 sizes here

Thank you for the reply and recommendation. I certainly would feel more comfortable sizing up to the 42 but there's about a $700 price difference ordering it from there vs the site I was initially looking at, ending up almost twice the Japan MSRP. Guess I may hold off and hope it restocks next season.

In this case, you can buy a size 40 jacket in Japan. If it doesn't suit you, you can sell it. You will have an understanding of which size will suit you.

If you buy the cheaper jacket and it doesn’t fit you’ll lose quite a bit of money in resale unless it is returnable.

I had one in a 42 and found layering under it to not be a problem, whereas every other Japanese jacket I've had in a 42 was a T-Shirt only jacket. Actually, besides a Freewheelers Journeyman in a 42 that I had. I was able to layer under that one too.

Not sure if that helps you or not lol. But according to the measurement charts of all these Japanese jacket makers, a 42 on paper should fit me fine. I've found the issue is they all have super-high armholes which make it hard to wear anything heavier than a t-shirt underneath. The measurement charts don't account for those tiny armholes.

Yeah the armholes are a big problem, and I don't think there's a good way to really modify/tailor the jackets to make them fit either so that's my main concern. One of my jackets was so bad it would leave red marks from cutting off my circulation even though the rest of the jacket fit fine lol. Thanks for the advice, looks like waiting for a 42 is the move.

I haven’t received my order of Spiders yet to measure them directly. But going by Rainbow Country’s provided measurements, the Spider is bigger and longer than Hercules in the same size. Which makes sense given the difference in styles

Our dimensions are similar, you’re a few inches taller than me. I’m 5’9” 175 pounds with a 40.5” chest. The 40 Hercules fits me well and it’s my understanding the 40 Spider will too

Depending on your actual chest and arm length you may just need the 42 to get the sleeve length you need

Feel free to email / dm me if you’d like the measurements once I get em

Thank you, fortunately I actually ended up finding a 42 from Yahoo auctions and it fits perfectly. Slightly roomy but fits how a car coat should imo, so safe to say the 40 would have been too small.
