The way the silk ribbon is fixed to the brim edge is also quiet interesting. It is not entirely attached firmly to the felt, as to be seen in later and current bowlers. In fact, the silk is rather flapped over and loosely fixed with delecate stitches. This construction appears to ad on to keeping a certin elasticity and torsion resilience. Very elaborately done!
Dreipitz, Super hat! Can I ask how the liner is attached? I have a similar vintage bowler (a Habig) where the liner (very good condition) is loose and I do not see any evidence of stitching.
