Here's one I found recently in the UK, it was in a very old Christy's box which I didn't buy....bizarrely it appears to have never had a liner fitted?

Posted this one in the German and Austrian Hutmachers thread as well. Early German bowler hat "Superb" Kadene or Kadenve (notice the peculiar writing of the name) in a 4 3/4 size. It's the handwritten label combined with its backstory that makes me think this is an early one. Seller's mother, who was born in 1916, got it from her father or uncle (the story was unclear here) and passed it on to her daughter (seller) who used it for stage performance. Bought this one along with a Rehfus&Cie Zephyr bowler (I have seen pictures of one on the lounge somewhere) for 15 euros. Unfortunately the seller jammed both hats in too small a box for shipping and the Rehfus was dented. If anyone can provide any information or ideas on this one, it would be appreciated.

This one I have for a while. I own a number of bowler hats but I never wear them (one step too close towards "costume" for me) but now and again I buy one because of the great craftsmanship that goes into them. This one is certainly very well made and apart from some wear on the brim binding in very good shape. This one I shaped a bit and it fits my head perfectly. The Atlas Brand (English I think) 6 7/8 size (so 56 cm), Seroom Make and Guaranteed all fur embossed on the sweatband. This is definatley an old one, but I haven't been able to find out anything about the brand or the age of the hat. Does anyone have any more information?

Hello,
Just purchased a Stetson derby on ebay.
It looks like a beauty and cannot wait for it to arrive.
The era according to the seller is 1930's and the sweatband and markings are Young's Hatters since 1873.
It even has the original hat box

Can anyone tell me a little more info. on this hat?

I wanted to know if I paid a good price for the hat and original Young's hat box and if the hat is from the 1930's?
It looks mint to me, but I really have to wait until it arrives to see for myself.
I paid $75.00!!

Certainly a fair price and a fair date assessment. The sweatband and size label are not standard Stetson fare. Look forward to seeing more photos when you receive the derby.

I have but two. The one on the left is a modern Stetson (Hat-Co) Bat Masterson, size 7-1/8, from their Buffalo Collection and the one on the right is a vintage J. B. Stetson model in Royal Stetson, size 6-7/8, from ca. 1940 I just purchased. The Bat Masterson has a blue jay feather stuck in the band (bottom photo). The J. B. won't get a feather, as a feather just wouldn't work for that one whereas it seems fitting for the BM.

I like wearing bowlers and derbys, they are so rare in society these days. Not the most comfortable style compared to soft felts. I am a historian, and the look suits my mindset.

It certainly looks good on you. It does help a lot the comfort of wearing a bowler (or top hat for that matter) to have it conformed to your head shape.

I want a nice stingy-brimmed brown Derby when I appear on stage. I love wearing a nice Fedora as well as a "top-tier" black Derby when I'm in my regular street clothes. Dressing well can be fun while attracting positive attention while on the street.

When viewed as being "overdressed", I think to myself, "let 'em eat cake".

I'm using a laptop and don't have a disc drive. All of my Copyrighted images are on a photo disc. I had difficulties with copyright infringement on another forum. These have since been deleted from the internet. My costumed image has been copyrighted since February 2011.

I nearly filed a Copyright infringement lawsuit over it.
