Here is one from 1963 in a dark moss with flecks of blue and grey.
Open: 5-3/4 inches
Centre-creased: 4-1/2 to pinch and 5 to side
Brim: 2 inches
Black ribbon: 2 inches and a wind trolley

The brim edge seems to be similar to that of the Stetson Mode Edge style, or a kind of pressed felt.

There is a number ‘33489’, but the paper was brittle so hard to photograph.

Original receipt : purchased on 10 October 1963

That Borsalino selling for $59 in 1963 is equivalent to $505 today when you factor in inflation. That seems way too high, right, for 1963? I thought the range would be around $22.00. Anyone know what prices Borsalinos sold for back in 1963? Amazing.

Borsalino fedora in amiata colour. Raw edge brim at 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. All the Borsalino quality we've come to expect from their vintage hats. Nice and lightweight qualitá extra extra superiore at only 96 grams. The liner is the icing on the cake here.

Another Borsalino coming from Panos @PanosChris. Borsalino Torino in Uranio colour. Size 57 with the felted edge brim at 5,7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. I have a Torino in black and knew what to expect: a wonderfully soft and lightweight (this one weighs 88 grams) hat with a great hand that takes any shape you throw at it.

I came across this ad in the Muskogee (Oklahoma) Times-Democrat from October, 1917. Very interesting reference to the hats making it across the ocean despite the presence of German submarines.

$10 for a hat in 1917 was a premium price. Most hats during that era were much less expensive.

Or, in different terms, a hat that cost $10 in 1917 would cost approximately $215-$225 today (depending upon whose "inflation" calculations you believe are most accurate).

Congrats on the hats. Good looking hats both. The dating of the labels is far from an exact science, but it's the best we've got so far from the hats that do have dates on them, which is a rarity. I've looked at the labels we call the cerrated roll labels again and adjusted the time-period somewhat, because a more recent example showed up last week. Here they all are:

From 1960 until 1972 based on these examples. There may be differing opinions and views, but this is what can be backed up with documentation/photos.

Good to see another dated hat posted, Matt. This however is an example of the "cerrated sheet" type label, where at least three sides of the label are cerrated (on your example top, bottom and left). These we find on hats in the period 1954- 1960. So 1956 fits exactly. As a side note: I would like to find an example of the "cerrated roll" type label that is either the first or last of the roll, so with just one cerrated edge (top or bottom).

I don't think even Borsalino understood it completely themselves, Matt
I think the labels were done with typewriters and rubber stamps (for the size) in this time-period.

We will have to see how light or dark it really is when it gets to me. As we all know, these ebay photos are often not as representative as we'd like. How many times have we all seen what looks like a gray hat on the bay that turns out to be brown in real life!

Matt, This is a transitional piece. Echter Borsalino + Export Qualität. Luckily we have a lot good information (like this date stamp) when it comes to German Market Borsalinos.

Assuming for a moment that the color is accurately represented in that photo (or even semi-accurately), that's an attention getter! Mint Green? Pistachio Green? Wonderful! Looking forward to seeing what the color really looks like.
