Thanks again! Here is a photo of the over welt stitching. I had to snap the brim down to photograph. As I mentioned it will not stay snapped. The angled stitching is visible with brim up which causes an unusual effect where the welt edge looks like it has a saw tooth cut.

Thanks on both counts. Yes it ended well (3 really fantastic hats + boxes) but it was an ordeal (the seller claimed health issues). The NOS find was a total shock (in a great way).

After Mayser's knockout Echter I'm a little sheepish about showing this but, here goes;
Fished this very neglected hat out of the bay;

Got it fairly cheap for a big size vintage Borso, I thought it had potential
steamed, cleaned, reblocked and flanged

This is pretty close to the actual color but it is one of those that is impossible to acurately capture

turned out pretty nice. Any guess as to age? 50's? 60's?

I like this hat and have seen it before on the Bencraft site. FYI: ANOTHER Italian hat maker GUERRA makes a nice navy blue fedora called a Guerra GQ. Its normally abt a $200 retail hat. HATS PLUS has em on sale (limited sizes) for $140. 4.5 in centetdent crown and 2.5 in brim. Buddy of mine has it in the deepest navy blue. I have it in Bordeaux. I believe the hat is FEPSA HARE. Its a lovely hat.
