Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying the Sugar Cane 1947 jeans together with the Sugar Cane 1953 Type II jacket, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have owned or compared them with TCB.

For reference:

  • Height: 189 cm (6’2”)
  • Weight: 85 kg (187 lbs)
  • Usual European size: XL

Jeans

I currently wear the TCB S40’s in W36.

The fit is almost perfect, but the waist feels just a little snug. The waistband measures about 43 cm laid flat, and ideally I’d like around 2 cm more room.
From the other hand , I own the TCB 20s denim in w38 which is bit “uncomfortable oversized”
If the was a w37 on TCB, would be my Gold size !

Has anyone compared the Sugar Cane 1947 directly with the TCB S40’s?

  • Would you stay with W36, or size up to W38?
  • How do the waist, rise, thigh and overall fit compare?

Jacket

I also own both the TCB 20’s Jacket and the TCB 40’s Jacket, both in size 50.

I like the authentic, slightly oversized fit, similar to how denim jackets were actually worn in the 1940s and 1950s—not a modern slim fit.

For those who own the Sugar Cane 1953 Type II, which size would you recommend?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has owned both TCB and Sugar Cane, since real-world comparisons are much more helpful than size charts.

Thanks in advance!
