STETSON GUN CLUB

Here is the Gun Club my dear wife found for me at a garage sale about ten years ago (IIRC, she paid $5). It is in amazingly pristine condition, and I've worn it many times, most notably to a Specials concert, where it fit in nicely with the headgear sported by many of the rude-boys in attendance! Now, if I could only find a pin....

Pandora,
I remember those braided hat bands being popular around the early 1980's. It was in the 1970's when the Steven's Hat Co. owned Stetson that they started using the joint size tags. Apparently Steven's was already using them. I have no info on the liner. I had a Gun Club in the late 80's and it had a different liner and a different hat band. Not much to go on I know, but I hope this helps date your hat.

I found this thread interesting. I didn't know about stingy brims and trilbys being a part of the Gun Club series.
Stetson was still selling a model marked "Gun Club" in the mid-'90s. I bought one at Meyer the Hatter, a pale sage green hat with a very Stratoliner vibe, except the ribbon was a belt with buckle. Had about a 2.5" brim if I recall.

I have a Stetson Gun Club hat. Looks more like a western style hat with the brim a little larger than the open road fedora. Its a little over twenty years old green felt with a leather band.

I have a Dune in Silver belly, which is in Stetson's Gun Club lineup. I do a half hour, sometimes one hour, walk that takes me up and over some slight hills, which I do double-time to get my heart rate up, and the Dune is absolutely great in these winter months. The hat is very light, but grips my head in a wind, and that big brim, which is firm and steady as I walk, does a great job of blocking the low winter sun here in Northern California. I like it a lot. I removed the feather (not really my style) and the liner, so it's cooler as I sweat. I'm really liking it on my daily walks right now.

My latest Gun Club. This hat came with a hideous macrame “ribbon.” I replaced the ribbon, brushed and steamed it, and let it sit a week in a band block. Fits perfect and the felt is softer than I was expecting. The brim measures 3 1/8 inches at the front and rear and 2 5/8 inches on the sides with the curl. The crown is 4 1/4 inches at the center dip. I’m still surprised at the diversity of hat styles that have carried the Gun Club name.

Mine has always fit well. Yours is.very nice. I'm getting to like the curled brims more all the time.

Here’s a recent Stetson Gun Club that my daughter, bless her heart, bought for me from Filson. It was marketed as a collaboration between Filson and Stetson, but as far as I can tell it’s a regular current issue Gun Club with a skinny leather band with a Filson badge and a jacked-up price tag (Filson style). It’s a nice heavy felt outback style hat, but nothing too remarkable about it.

My only issue, and I’ve had it with a couple other Stetsons of this era, is that the sweatband has a nubuck feel to it. The feel isn’t the issue, but the surface sloughs off and ends up on your forehead and in your hair.

Very nice, Brent. You wear that style well.

A nice "formal" look to that one, Brent.

I got this stetson a number of years ago from an old store in NY that went out of business i think i paid $5 for it its a really interesting looking Stetson hat called the gun club. I curious if anyone knows about this hat and if it has any value
If that's a 7 1/2 LO, I am definitely interested.
