Stetson was still selling a model marked "Gun Club" in the mid-'90s. I bought one at Meyer the Hatter, a pale sage green hat with a very Stratoliner vibe, except the ribbon was a belt with buckle. Had about a 2.5" brim if I recall.Pandora,
I remember those braided hat bands being popular around the early 1980's. It was in the 1970's when the Steven's Hat Co. owned Stetson that they started using the joint size tags. Apparently Steven's was already using them. I have no info on the liner. I had a Gun Club in the late 80's and it had a different liner and a different hat band. Not much to go on I know, but I hope this helps date your hat.
I found this thread interesting. I didn't know about stingy brims and trilbys being a part of the Gun Club series.
My latest Gun Club. This hat came with a hideous macrame “ribbon.” I replaced the ribbon, brushed and steamed it, and let it sit a week in a band block. Fits perfect and the felt is softer than I was expecting. The brim measures 3 1/8 inches at the front and rear and 2 5/8 inches on the sides with the curl. The crown is 4 1/4 inches at the center dip. I’m still surprised at the diversity of hat styles that have carried the Gun Club name.

Very nice, Brent. You wear that style well.Stetson The Gun Club Dune in sandstone.
My only issue, and I’ve had it with a couple other Stetsons of this era, is that the sweatband has a nubuck feel to it. The feel isn’t the issue, but the surface sloughs off and ends up on your forehead and in your hair.
