Shrinking a wool cap?

I have a wool cap with a leather sweatband that is probably about 1/2 size too large, maybe less. Just too large enough to be annoying, really.

Has anybody tried to shrink a cap like this before? What do you recommend?

Please don’t do this unless it is confirmed by another more knowledgeable member, but I recall reading you could get it wet around the brim and sweat band and place it on top of a lamp shade. But be warned you could set it on fire doing this. I think another member managed to a ruin a hat using this method.

I know that it is probably not a good option since the cap already annoys you, but the cap should do it naturally if you wear it enough and sweat in it.
