Was checking for some ties at the local thrift store today, but noticed they all were polyester

Ah, the 70s---the gift that keeps on giving.

Here's a tie I picked up the other day. I looked up the patent number, it was patented in 1923 and the Disclaimer has a date of 1930.

Next is the tie my friend bought, and we're curious to know how old his tie is. Can anyone tell from the label what era it's from? The R in the circle leaves me to believe it was made in the '60s.

You are probably right. I have no idea about knit ties though. I think I've had two, that I bought intentionally, in my entire life.[huh]

Okay, a previous thrift store find. Nice golden-brown background, with silver and black motifs/stripes, c.late-'50s. (Can't tell you about any labels, because I don't know where the tie is right at this moment.:eusa_doh

I got the ties I took in to be dry cleaned back yesterday. One day service for regular price---not bad. They are a little flat for my taste but they will relax with wear. I'll get some pictures in a bit.

If it's regular price and one day service, that's not bad. Regarding being flat, aren't the cleaners going to properly press them for you?

Go find it. I'll bet it's a Towncraft. They made a lot of them like that.
One thing about them, they clean easily and keep their shape even when washed.

Good luck finding a cleaners that doesn't press they heck out of ties up here. They are used to cleaning modern ties with all that thick material inside.[huh]

It is just one of those things. They did get the million year old stains out though.
In looking through the ties, I found a few that had holes in them not from moths but from guess what.

No but those are abominable as well. The holes were from cigarettes. I think I'll just have them cleaned and wear it anyway. If you get rid of the brown around the small hole it would likely be less noticeable.
I remember my great uncle used to smkoe a pipe and cigars. Years after he quit, you would still notice he had a few shirts with some pipe and cigar rash on them.lol
