[Mean Eyed Matt]

Hello everybody, I'm new at the Ties-Threat:

So here's a bunch of 1930-40's German neck ties I catched on ebay last year.
Perhaps some of them (these with the stitching at the neck) could be even older? What do the experts think?

The last two – the narrow ones – are late 50s, I think, but I like the patterns and the labels show: they’re from my hometown…

All beautiful specimen.
The latter two are 1955-60. The other ones are 1930-40's.
I like the brown one with white dots and brown checkered one best.

@Fastuni: Do you know something about the manufacturers? I searched for them but didn't find out anything.

"Esta" was founded by a certain Eugen Stanelle in Leipzig. The line "in Verwaltung" (under Administration) suggests that it was made during the transitional period 1949-50's before all larger companies were absorbed into VEB (people owned factories).

"LeSi" is a very old Leipzig tie manufacturer... at least 100 years. The rhomboid LeSi Logo can be found on ties from the 1930's. Your narrow tie could even be from the 1920's... where narrow ties were fashion. I think I change my previous assesment that it is from the 50's.

I was wondering about the Asian Pattern of the LeSi-tie, cause I thought it's very uncommon in end 50s GDR...
And it can't be an 30s label still used in the 50s as it is attached?

I don't think so. The more I look at the tie, I think it is 20's. I also had a very ornate flowery brocade LeSi that was rather narrow.
The "exotic" silk brocade certainly is rather 20's extravaganza than sobre 50's socialist fare.

I don't want to just repost 'old stuff'. So here's my recent lot of 1930-40's German neckties, probably the two reds from the early 50's?
They're still not cleaned and ironed. The one with the 'giraffe' pattern is my favourite...

I had to get some "thirft store therapy" after a hard day at work yesterday and came home with a Milan hemp stingy brim hat, a vintage Penney's ski sweater, a bandana from Antique Archeology (the Pickers) and these three ties.

Countess Mara, silk, 55-1/2" x 3-1/2". From Ed V's -- a now defunct men's store from here in town.

Superba, 100% Dacron Polyester, 54-1/2" x 3-1/2".

Wemlon by Wembley, 100% Polyester, 55" x 3-3/4".

Yes, I like the blue one as well. It's a pity, that i is lightly damaged and bleached out at the knot. But I'll try my best to spruce it up
