Been getting some goodies for the new store.

In all fairness, these are eBay finds, and repros, but still kinda neat.

A friend of mine sent me a text this morning with a picture of these two and asked me if I wanted them, $125 for the pair. Of course, I took them, and you can see they're sitting in the shop in this photo. I plan on restoring them. He also told me the guy has a semi-trailer full of them and I can have them all if I'd like. I may just take them all for a package deal.

A semi-trailer?! I'll take a visible pump if you find one in there.

It's over 1000 mile drive from my place to yours, but, for a visible pump, the miles would fly by!

cool pumps, very near where I live in the late 1990's an old roadside motoring station that used to sell fuel and car, motorcycle and bicycle spares was being 'refurbished' as I drove past to work one morning they were taking sledgehammers to some old cast iron pumps outside rather than dig them out of the concrete!!! glad those above have been saved.

Here's one of the wife's recent purchase with my help and support obviously, a 'Coracle' 2 person picnic hamper for our frequent trips around the country buying 'tat, cack and rammel'..there are some bits missing but the basket and contents labels, leather straps etc were so good we just had to buy it....it even has it's original 'Coracle' bottle opener!
Part of the fun will be finding all the bits to go back in it, does anyone know the cutlery pattern as the knives are replacements I think?

I haven't bought it yet, but tomorrow I intend to get my hands on a nice, knee-hole pedestal desk which is for sale at my local thrift-shop. It's for a good price and looks to be good quality. I'll give it a thorough once-over tomorrow, and if everything is satisfactory, I'll pay up and sort out how to get it back home.

It's the same size as the desk which it will be replacing (minus a couple of inches on the desktop surface-area), but makes up for it by actually having storage-space which the other desk does not.

Looks like sort of like a sewing table. It sure would work out as one with all of that space to store thread and such. I could fit that in my trunk.

Been after one of these for a while, which wasn't being sold at an exorbitant and ridiculous price. People seem to think 'cause they're made of brass, they're worth their weight in gold...

Anybody else see this and have to fight down the urge to pop up from behind a counter and say "Empty Arms Hotel!"?

yesterday's finds, a pair of St George cufflinks and a 'Indian'? letter opener, the latter was very grimy and the hanlde scales scuffed but a quick buff and polish brought it to this shiney example;

30s silk hanky

Set for 6, Castleton (Shenango China) "Severn," ivory with platinum, probably made in the late '50s or very early '60s. It's factory seconds, so that is why the odd mix of pieces. Got this china and a huge $200 Honeywell HEPA filter for $15 out the door.

Castleton china was made in New Castle, PA, and the local women shopped the factory seconds shop to get their bone china at very reasonable prices. Seconds have the Castleton backstamp sanded off them.

chop plate 13", 6 dinners, 6 salads, 12 cream soups without the matching saucers, 5 teacups with saucers, 2 fruit bowls. I'll pick up another cup and saucer sometime.

I had some really nice finds in the closeout (sold by the pound) section of a local thrift shop.

A Wilton Country Gentleman hat ant the sterling jewelry that is with it. There were also lots on unremarkable items with them. At $1.38 a pound I buy a lot extra there.

I haven't been around much for the past year or so because we've been building a house (pix to appear later in another thread) and the project totally ate up all of my time and attention. The house is finally finished, we (and all our stuff) are moved in and relatively settled, and I've got time to hang out in the Lounge again. Here are some recent garage sale finds:

Fabulous vintage electric teakettle with white Bakelite trim, originally sold by the Hudson's Bay Company. We absolutely love this teakettle and use it every day. Not bad for five bucks.

Pair of ebony hairbrushes with sterling monograms - $2.00

Unused vintage barber's brush with horn handle - $1.00

Aladdin aluminum lunchbox - $2.00. This is a serious lunchbox - it'll hold three big sandwiches, a couple of pieces of fruit, and a piece of pie with room to spare for whatever else you'd want to throw in. Plus a full size thermos in the lid.
