Scored a pair of black dress pants from a local thrift shop. The pants are very old, possibly 20s-30s? No belt loops, button fly and suspender buttons that are metal rivets and not buttons. The rivets are stamped Brokaw Bros.

Button fly (metal rivets) with a clasp at the top also marked Brokaw Bros.

The inside waistband has two clips inscribed, "The Hand E Catch".

Beautiful, M. The tin/aluminium buttons are saying early 20s or earlier to me. Truly fantastic trousers. Must visit your local thrift when i visit NYC! (before the pound drops . . .)

The "catches" are perhaps to secure the sirt tails or underwear?

bk

p.s. Do you do a lot of Tech drawing?

It would be a pleasure to show you around if you are ever in NYC.

The metal catches are probably used to somehow secure the shirt. I cannot figure out how they work..

The cutting mat belongs to my crafty wife.

Not sure if I posted this here but this is my newest thrift store find.
In excellent condition except for one sleeve being shorter than the other. There might be enough material in the sleeve to be let down to an acceptable length.

I found this great glass reverse-paint art deco frame at the Goodwill today for $2. It measures a good 10 x 12. I have a pretty good collection of frames like this, but this one was particularly nice. That's a photo of my mom when she was 18 (1957, I think).

Found a 1947 Elgin 17j Deluxe 10k gold filled wrist watch with correct and unused flex band with a 1947 dedication on the back of the case in an antique store in Washingon, KY a couple weeks ago. I purchased same for $3. It was essentially in little used condition.

All it required was a clean, and I'm wearing it as we 'speak'..

It's identical to the one in this 1949 ad, and it's the watch on the left hand side of the page for $67.50. Mine has a different band, though, and roman numerial 5 minute indicators. Otherwise, same case, dial markings and crystal.

What an amazing find!
Do you clean them yourself or have a "go to" guy?

Being a member of the NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors), I know several fellow chapter members that take care of my vintage timepieces for me. The one I always use in Tyler Texas sends my watches back to me in as close to like new condition as anyone I've ever used.

Here's a little something!

...A little something we picked up at a local flea market.

An original poster of Mal Halett performing at the Sunnybrook Ballroom, in Pottstown, PA.

I have to find out the best way to preserve this. I know there is a process where a varnish is used that seals the paper to the wood....that's what I'm looking to do. Then hang it on the wall at the top of the stairs.

Here's some info on the Sunnybrook,....all the greats played there,..Armstrong, Hallett, Goodman, Shaw,..etc. The Sunnybrook Ballroom was so popular, that Artie Shaw later used one of the posters from the Sunnybrook on the cover of one of his albums!!
