This Dobbs Sulgrave homburg in saber (gray) is the most stingiest of homburgs that have crossed my path.

It’s the MOST Stingy Brim time of the year….

In solidarity with my shorter brim loving friend @Redfokker Michael Dicianna, last year we decided to start the new holiday tradition of StingyMas…. A celebration of beautiful stingy brim hats that… too.. were made with quality and style like their larger brimmed brothers… To spread stingy brim cheer to all the good boys and girls of Fedora Lounge Land.

So with that I present…

The Eleven Days of StingyMas

Why eleven… instead of.. oh say… twelve? Because eleven is STINGIERthan twelve.

I will kick off the celebration with my always at the ready Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe XXXXX

Hmmm...eleven days...nope, can't do it without re-posting the hats I posted last year and even then I think I'd come up short, so I'll just post the hats I've obtained since then. Up first, a nice little Navy Blue wool felt Porkpie with a Diamond crease and a brim that was supposed to be 1-3/4" wide but is actually 1-1/2":

Oh, right, stingy brims. Jeez, I'm already screwing this up and skipped a day. :( Okay, uhhh, up next for me is, I think, more "Trilby" than "Porkpie" except it's sold with the brim up, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another Italian (allegedly) wool felt hat, also dark navy blue. I'd call this an "Almond" crease because it doesn't come to a sharper "point" the way a Teardrop crease does at the pinch. Also, the side dents are very shallow on this one. The felt is softer on this hat than on the previous one, and it's very comfortable.

On the Third Day of StingyMas…

Borsalino Caesar Qualita Speciale

Another of my always at the ready grab and go stingies. I think it’s fitting that this hat which more than likely spent most of its life shoved into a Borsalino coffin box now spends all its time either on the rack on on my head.

Resistol Self Conforming
Dark Chocolate Brown Felt
4 7/8 crown to peak 4 inch back
2 inch matching grosgrain ribbon
2 inch brim with Cavanagh edge.

I grabbed this hat that arrived with several others that at first did not stand out to me. Mostly because it fits a spot in my collection that is fairly covered already... brown 60sish stingy... and it was probably going to be one size too big. The moment I plunked it on my head... I realized a couple things. First... it fit perfectly. Second... this was a really nice hat! It is not marked Kitten Finish as my 50s Resistol is (at least I don’t think so... the sweatband stamping is smeared to almost unreadable. But it really does share the same kinda hand to the felt. I love the two inch Cavanagh edge brim. There is probably a reason I’ve added a few hats of this styling. They just feel comfortable to me. The color is a deep dark espresso closer to the photos against the wall

And now for something marginally different--a Porkpie hat with the proper Telescope crease:

2" brim so it qualifies as "stingy" to most people. Generic sizing, so there's all kinds of padding under the sweatband. Other than that, not bad for a wool felt hat.
Cool looking hat

That’s a great one, reminds me a little of the hat Peter Outerbridge wore in the move “Men With Brooms” my favourite movie about curling.

That hat is the only reason I own a porkpie. But at the time the only one I could find was black. Where do you find your pork pies? I have difficulty finding ones with nice brims.
