On the eighth day of Stingymas a Lounge friend gave to me...the 880! Been saving this one for today. My friend Brent @deadlyhandsome from the Fedora Lounge gifted this beautiful Resistol 880 to me a while back. It is part of a series of models commemorating the "Jet Age" of the late 1950s/early 1960s. They had all the airliners, mostly by Boeing. The Convair 880 came out against the Boeing 707 and did not take off (pun intended). Elvis Presley bought one as his personal plane and named it the "Lisa Marie". I love a hat that tells a story!

Historically Akubra is/has been known for "working" hats, usually with wide brims to protect the wearer from the harsh Australian sun. They may have had others through the years, but currently their offerings of fur felt stingies are limited to the Hampton, the Rap (which has been discontinued), and the Trilby (which has also been discontinued). I've read rumors that the Hampton might be discontinued as well, but I'm hoping that won't happen until after I've gotten the other two colors I'd like to have.

Day seven of Stingymas, and my seventh and last stingy brim--another Akubra Hampton, this time in black:

I can't say I'm a big fan of black hats, but earlier this year The Hattery had a sale on selected hats and I couldn't resist the price. There's nothing wrong with black, but I'd really rather it was Carbon Grey or Federation Navy. Oh well.

Nice looking stingy! I personally really like a black stingy with a white collared shirt and faded jeans. But if you have a light colored dog, be prepared to use some tape on it!

On the Tenth Day of StingyMas...

Knox Flying Clouds...

The somewhat light weight Knox Flying Cloud feature super cool liner art displaying the sailing ship The Flying Cloud.

Both hats have 1 3/4 brims and about 4 3/4 crowns as shaped

This grey was likely mid to late 1960s with an $18.50 price tags and a Knox Custom Cavanagh edge. Weighed in at 102g. I put this hat on par with my Dobbs Four Season which also retailed at the same price with a Guild edge.

The brown one I believe is probably slightly later as it no longer includes the upgraded edge. This one weighs in at 106g

Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe XXXXX
Ghiaccio (Ice/Sand) Supershort Velour like felt
4 3/4 crown as shaped (5 inch open)
1 1/2 black grosgrain ribbon
1 7/8 raw edge brim

Just in time to join in the StingyMas fun! This beautiful stingy brim Borsalino came off a tip from @deadlyhandsome. The thin lightweight felt is a super soft almost velour like felt with an extremely short nap. The color is Ghiaccio.... Ice grey with sand undertones. The ribbon color name I couldn’t make out exactly but appeared to be D. Marine.. though appears to be black. A black yellow and red feather is tucked behind. The brim comes in at just a hair under 1 7/8 with a nice sharp raw edge. The manufacturing tag points to early to mid 1960s. The only damage appears to be a circular groove in the brim.. possibly from over aggressive cleaning and a couple of tiny tiny moth nibbles under the brim. It weighs in a fit trim 94g.

Two of the most fuzzy and grinchy greenest stingies of them all.

With a no name “Hatters Guild” tyrolean with a Celtic like band. And an emerald green Borsalino Maloia both at hand.

And what happened, then? Well, in Stingyville they say – that the Stingy’s small brim grew three sizes that day. And then – the true meaning of BrimMas came through, and the Stingy found the strength of *ten* brims, plus two (or one Stetson Standard Quality)

On the twelfth day of Stingymas, the vintage hat that started it all for me. My wife got me a "signature historian hat" for my Birthday in 2010, a stingy Woolie Scalia. I found the Fedora Lounge and became interested in something with a little more class. This late 1950s Stetson Royal Deluxe in a nice gray was my first vintage hat. Two inch brim and light as a popcorn fart. Had to have Mike Miller replace the sweat, but this one has served me well. I wear it to all my surgery appointments, good luck hat. Merry Stingymas to all, may your brims be perfect.

This is my new, old, out on the town hat. It's a sears comfort cushion, I'm not sure how old it is, but it's nice. The brim is less than two inches.

This thread hasn’t been getting much attention lately. I bought this hat to sell (it’s a 7 1/2), but I almost kept it, but it’s too stingy and small proportioned for me. Beaver Brand 1 7/8” underwelt brim and 4” exactly at the dip.

I’m posting it now because it just sold and I’m boxing it up to ship to its new owner.
