Wearing my Allen Edmonds Neumok in beautiful grey Horween Chromexcel Leather. Very unique color, especially when they start getting a little patina. I get compliments every time I wear them. I put the blue laces in when wearing with a blue shirt. Great combination.

You won't find many trainers, sneakers or plimsolls in my wardrobe, just not me. But I did rather take to these by Lambretta, I must have owned them for at least twenty-five years, and I still get asked where can they be bought/how much. Out of curiosity I checked the website, there's nothing there that comes near. Very comfortable they are too.

Rudel Western boots. Not familiar but don’t expect them to be a major, fancy company that chase after the overrated “tea core” fad, yet, the leather is genuinely tea core, no artificial paint over.

Wow is the word. The colours and lasts and combination of the designs make for an eye popping combination. Makes a nice change from the usual browns and black. Fun shoes.

Love tarsal straps. Who made them?
They were made by an elderly fellow in London, I moved out of London a few years ago now, I lost touch with him, I know that his shop has closed though.
Nowadays I buy from Colin Johnson, he is another artisan. He has always been gifted at making shoes but lousy in business. Delays, wrong order, that sort of thing, but a number of years back he met a lady named Sarah, it was the making of him. She turned his business around, he makes the shoes and Sarah does everything else. Click on their website and see.

Could the good folks here share their recommendations for leather shoe treatments that provide waterproofing? This is in general but a lot of my shoes/boots are brogue style so a lot of nooks, crannies and stitching to work around.
Does anyone use any of the new fangled hydrophobic sprays on leather?

Good morning Captain; Leather shoes, smooth leather, are brushed profusely, conditioned, creme polish (seldom), toes/heels clear polish, edged and bottoms conditioned regularly. No waterproofing paste or sprays so that the leathers characteristics of wearable durability and breath ability (as much as they can) are retained.

Suede are treated with a nano-spray, suede brushed, edge and sole treated. I have treated the suede when they are new and truthfully I have not found the need to ever do it again. Rarely the inside leather is conditioned. https://www.amazon.com/TARRAGO-SUED...t=&hvlocphy=9019526&hvtargid=pla-826633026841

Field boots I do treat with a waxy (Snow Seal) treatment to provide additional water protection. Hiking boots need very little care. Occasional conditioning the rough out leather and seldom nano-spray.

Normal care with smooth dress/casual leather shoes, drying them, shoe trees and switching pairs daily I have not had weather incidents.

I hope I assisted in your query. Captain, if you have a specific pair of shoes in mind, please share the manufacturer/model and perhaps that might trigger additional info.

Best, Eric -

Rudel is a Mexican Co. that manufactured their boots in Leon, Mexico, often considered the cowboy boot capitol of the world. Founded in the late 70's I'm not sure they're sill in business but they made a decent boot.

My first attempt at replacing my own heels on some AE Stirlings. Tired of spending $50 at the Cobbler every time I turn around, and I go through heels like crazy riding the motorcycle. Ordered the Vibram mini lugs online and used E6000 glue and a brad nailer.

Turned out pretty good I think, and about $4.00 when buying the vibrams in qty. Going to try some shoes next.

I picked up these beauties this morning and I think they are off the chain. From Bontoni, Oxford's in green and mustard.

I have been introduced to this brand from your posts. Thanks for sharing. The style with a combo of Italian shape and English sole and pattern are unique. Bold color pairing on the shoes. Fun colors. When you get a chance share how you wear them as I am curious.

You keep your boots in lovely condition, well done you. Boots are not my forte but I do have a pair for work-a-day wear and a spare pair that has never seen the light. They were a gift, can't be seen to be ungrateful but I really can't take to them. My regular boots are well past their sell by and although I wasn't specifically looking, I came across these in a sale and ordered them. Leather boots for £35, can't be bad.

Snagged another pair recently of the BIG John Lobb. I have only polished them for 4 hours with many hours to go over the next few weeks, but so far so good.

I am always chasing the perfect shine. I haven't reached it yet, but l think l will soon. I've ordered special high shine `boot black' products with special acidic polish water, and I am going to get special 180's cotton fabric from Alumo (finest cotton in the world) and l am going to freeze my special polish water and go for the finest shoo shine i've ever done. I've done 20 hour shines numerous times to try and get that perfection, but l still haven't made it to the top when it comes to brilliant world class shines, but lam going to give it my best shot and go all out with nothing but the best water, cloth and polish products and l am going to polish and polish and polish until those shoos shine like diamonds.
