Here's my latest acquisition. 1940s/50s Roblee French Toe Oxfords

I have to agree with Cookie, those are some nice shoes. I missed one time on an eBay auction for some Roblee black and white spectators that were near NOS. To date we only have had one pair of Roblee shoes and they are so very nice. Keep those shoes conditioned....super nice.

Here is my latest buy. Some suppose 50's shoes. They seem to have a slight spade sole on them. I cant wait to get them and look at em in person. https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1001958795

Those are fairly nice looking shoes. The interior lining from the pictures looks very rough and will need some heavy conditioning to make sure they don't deteriorate any further. I would put them at 1960s or 70s judging by the overall shape of the sole. Also, they don't really have any hint of a spade sole at all. A spade sole will be much more dramatic in its curvature, and a true spade will come to a point at the widest part. These are extremely subtle in their curvature, and much more resemble an average modern sole in that respect. These are all things that I've really learned on this forum, so if anyone wants to correct me they probably have more expertise, but that's my opinion.

I couldn't have said it better, my friend! Covered all the bases. I will also add that those are honestly ready for the trash can. The interiors are already destroyed and there is a lot of bad stuff happening with that upper leather.

A lesson to learn....we are all still learning by the way.....the shoes you purchased have not been taken care of at all. I think the leather uppers are fried....dry and dried so badly I do not think soaking them is going to do any good. I've attempted to save a few pairs of nice shoes that have had that same hard dry look...it does not work. The soles of those shoes more than likely are not leather. For some shoe makers the factory would use some sort of a fiber pressed material that looks like leather until the sole has some wear on it....and from the pictures that is what appears to be the case in these shoes. But one thing you can do with these is to see how much you can do in the way of conditioner......I already know you may not save them but to see how to slowly try to really soften up leather over time. Those can be sort of a "school of shoes" project.

There are a ton of fairly nice vintage shoes all over ebay, and depending on your wallet, I would look at spending at least $250.00 or more for a decent pair. At some point you will be able to look and know fairly much right off, if a pair of shoes are worth spending money on. Do not beat yourself up too badly, we have all been victims of shoe desire and purchased junk.

Ahh okay. I'm trying to know shoes like i know hats. I'm almost an expert on them. Hats are one of my greatest passions to wear and collect.

Just know as you continue to look at shoes, see the listings on vintage shoes, you will start to really pick up on everything. And you will also find there is more to learn all the time.

Okay so those shoes I bought need to some help looking fine again. What do I need to bring the leather back to life?
