Wearing my vtg. Elevator blue suede shoes today.

The faux alligator marks on the leather work for these shoes. Who would have thought?

I found this pair yesterday. I think they are some sort of sport shoes.

They've had rubber taps glued onto the sole and heel, but as you see there is no real heel. Nor is there any toe box.

Online I found very similar designs that were labeled as boxing shoes. And also these ones labeled as 1910 basketball shoes on a sports memorabilia site.

They would appear to be identical in construction.

Very near mint condition and as luck would have it they are my size. No makers labels or marks that I can determine.

These were all bought new. The first pair look black & white, it's the poor light and taken by my phone, they are actually navy & white. They are sold by former Lounger Simon C, or Simon Cathcart. SJC

These tan & cream correspondence are in a clearance sale, I paid just over thirty pounds. Mister Carlo.

Looking for something in bottle green Johnson Shoes came up trumps with these.

Getting a deep red is always a minefield with the colour you see on the webpage, not matching the colour on the shoes, but Shipton & Heneage have nailed that, These shoes are exactly right, I love them.

Love those Bostonians Eric, they have a slight resemblance to a pair of shoes that I searched years for. Made by the Saxone Shoe Company, they are a classic 1930's style. In the end I had a repro pair made.

My shoes, in contrasting colour, make a great combination with my similarly coloured shirts. I need to get to work on collecting a few more matching hats.

Thanks for sharing your special shoes. It is enjoyable to see what other shoes are being worn. I really enjoy seeing the adventures your shoes undertake. They experience quite a lot.

Thank you Eric, it's your posts and the posts of all Loungers that make this place such an enjoyable experience. It certainly knocks most of the TV listings into a cocked hat, that's for sure.

This style of shoe was very popular towards the end of the 1940's, early 1950's. They are known as Gibsons. The navy & cream pair I photographed when they arrived, the red pair have been around the block awhile.

When we are away at some event or other, the best way to look after and maintain our shoes is to use a shoe suitcase and maintenance zipper pouch.

I like to wear my David Eden croc shoes which I see are begging for a shine. I also have some Edmunds split toes brown and black and some Monk straps. I'm due a nice pair of wingtips I think. I wore two tones when I was in my twenties but not so sure its me now. Not vintage but nothing you pick up at Target either.

I picked up these beauties this morning and I think they are off the chain. From Bontoni, Oxford's in green and mustard.

Too amazing for words!

I raise you these. The highest quality rtw l have ever owned. The highly elusive Silvano Lattanzi. I feel like a really lucky guy owning these. Highly prized shoes and something l have been after for 16 years.

Wow, you are going all out on the shine ! I’ve tried numerous times for a mirror shine and just can’t quite get there. Please Keep us informed of your results and techniques.

The perfect shine
1). Use boot black `rich moisture' twice over shoes to moisturize and smooth surface.
2). Use boot black `two face plus lotion' twice over shoes to clean and smooth surface.

after this you will get a softness and feel of leather like you have never experienced before.

3). Use boot black artists palette twice over shoes. It is oil based and much better.
4). Use boot black `high shine base' over shoes twice.
5). Use boot black `wax' or `high shine coat' with saphir `mirror gloss' with half frozen boot black acidic `polish water' and rub it in using a high quality polish cloth in small circular motions.

Wait a few days and try to do further mirror shining.
NOTE: on the final shine, do NOT buff the shoes. A final buffing can scratch the mirror shine, so just put a SMALL bit of conventional wax and frozen water for the final shine and let it dry.

As you can see, it takes some work to do shoes that are worth taking the time to shine up. I imagine you use these steps so that eventually you have what I call a hard surface to support the mirror finish. I note you also advocate cold water use in the shine process.I do the same when I am doing a mirror shine. It makes the "links" that are in shoe polish get tighter which creates that gloss surface. Warm water just does not work, as it makes the polish melt down instead of building it up. I will have to try some of your weapons of choice for polishing steps, where do you typically obtain the boot black products?

I just ordered some shoe cream in a "banana" color, to agument some gold and light tan to apply on a pair of light tan/gold colored spectators. Although the shoes are no longer being worn, I still get all the shoes rotated out of the boxes and clean/condition or polish them. I am thinking that color, banana, would help keep your beautiful shoes, the color they are, if you mix it up with what ever you are already using. What do you think?

The way those shoes look have been eye appealing, RRL had some British shoemaked produce a spectator that is the spitting image of your Bostonians....sadly RRL did not continue having them made. Hard to beat real vintage for quality and as with your shoes, the style....out of the ball park pretty!
