First ever photo post so bear with me... my latest Etsy spree. To be fair, I've had my eye on a few of these things for months.

And there's a lot more... Hello, my name is Frenchy and I have a vintage shopping addiction. The cream dress is 60s, the sage dress is 50s, and the brown one is 80s but kind of reminded me of 40s. I just loved the collar anyhow. And the top one is the royal blue polka dot dress I have been looking for all my life. :D Just hoping the shoulders aren't too 80s and poofy.

I love the brown one! And the suitcase in the photo as well is divine!

These aren't so much purchases as gifts and hand-me-downs, but I know you ladies will appreciate them. I went home to the farm this weekend because I didn't get a chance to come home over Christmas. Now that my grandparents know I am in to vintage, it seems they are looking for heirlooms to pass on to me - I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. My maternal grandma promised to give me the silver powder compact grandpa gave her their first Christmas together in 1944, but she won't part with it yet - and I don't blame her! Still, here's a (cell phone) photo:

My paternal grandmother had some things from my grandpa's cousin to pass on to me. The cousin Dorothy loved to collect luxurious things, so even though I can't be sure of the dates, they are beautiful. This is a silk Christian Dior dressing gown:

And this is a Prada purse, bought at Saks Fifth Avenue in January 2002 for $426 (marked down from $610):

My mom also passed down some brooches to me. The heart and the lady with the dog are more modern ones that she bought (I think I will pin the heart on a beret, it is too cute!). The Christmas tree was my great-grandmother's and I remember always seeing it in my mother's jewelry box as a kid, while the cameo brooch was given to my mom from my dad's mom (it has a photo of my dad in it).

I've also blogged about recent purchases at Retro-Reporter.com - there's a lot and I don't want to overwhelm everyone here!

I love that brown dress Frenchy!

Forgot about my one recent vintage purchase. I bought this from an antique centre in Gloucester:

To be honest, I wasn't convinced it was vintage but have since found a few examples on Google that seem to be. It's kinda like a mini banana clip.

Does anyone know much about them and how it would be used? I've just been using it to make a nice fanned out ponytail.

sorry, AdrianLvsRocky, I can't help you with the hairclip!

I love that brown dress Frenchy!

thank you, and thank you Miss Golightly and Laurie for the comments- it's funny that it seems to be popular, as it's probably the least 'vintage' of the lot! I think I can make it work 40s-style with a poodle do and the right accessories. :) Every time I start thinking about questions of authenticity, though, I just remind myself that my audience is either the general public (who don't have bloody clue about what's authentic and just think I look vaguely 'retro'), or my family and friends, who don't care and love me regardless. :D

I worry about posting pics of eBay/Etsy finds on here, there's always the possibility that you've snapped up something that someone else had their heart set on, especially on the FL! :p

My jolly new sweater and croc purse

THAT PURSE! :D <3 I am in love. So gorgeous. I would love an alligator purse.

Now that I've figured out how to post photos I could spam this thread all day with my Etsy stuff :D *but* I'll be good and just show a couple more things...for now.

70s sundress- not something I would normally buy but OMG that color combination! I love sky blue and anything with red accents I adore too, and it's just so bright and summery, I know it'll look fab with red nails and lippy!

60s sleeveless blouse with super-cute floral embroidery, a bargain at $9 delivered and no obvious flaws!

and this beauty... 50s (I'm guessing this is an original and not an 80s repro...input, ladies?) red plaid dress. Will be an inch or two too big in the bust but sigh, that's the price you pay for having huge hips... that collar! Those cuffs! (black velvet :D)

Gorgeous dresses ladies!

http://www.shoetopia.com/soda-shoes-tuxedo-thick-heel-slip-on-track-s.html

These arrived in my mail yesterday! They are about what I would expect out of your standard retail store shoes (ie Target, Payless, etc.) The sole is not very thick so I wouldn't expect these to last very long if you are on your feet a lot or drag your feet when walking. I work in an office setting so I think I'll get them to last a little longer than normal. The "leather" is soft and supple and they came with paper stuffed in the toes with a bar holding their shape. I think that might have stretched them a bit too. I bought size 11s and I found they are a tad too big like the "model" said in the description. However I have wide feet too so I'm not sure if going 10.5 would have been better. Overall, I love how they look and can't wait to start wearing them! I already have lots of outfits planned! lol

I just bought some Miss L Fire shoes too! They are the Land Girl style. When they first came out they had them in 3 colours and I would have loved the navy, but at £64.99 plus £5 postage on the Miss L Fire website I decided to leave them :(
But I just got them in the black and red for only £32 including postage, so I hope they fit when they arrive :D!

MissLaurieMarie, love that brooch with the lady and dog, so much fun!

Nomanolo, I'm in love with that turquoise sweater! A spirit lifter on rainy days!
The red skirt's a find, too. Can't go wrong with pencil skirts and can't have enough of them.
