Shortening sleeves on a 118L…

Jackety

I recently entered the wonderful world of the Schott Perfecto.

I tried about 10 jackets all by mail. I thought that the 626VN was for me but in the end the zips/watch scratching was a deal breaker.

I settled on a 118 in size 42 which looks great undone and a 118L in size 44 which is better for cold weather as I can wear a hoodie underneath and there’s less material sticking out from under the bottom of the jacket.

The sleeves are a bit long though but I don’t want to just take my chances with the local cobbler on a really expensive jacket…

If any of you have had your sleeves shortened did they just cut the sleeves or did they move the whole zip back and re cut it so you don’t end up with little dinky zips?

I’d like it to look like it was just made at the factory but with the sleeves the right length for me.

I need about an inch and a half taken off. I’m in France which doesn’t help(!) but I would consider sending the jacket back to Schott if they do alterations.

Frankly, you may be much better off learning to just live with it.

Sleeves for me at least are rarely ever long enough, and much better a bit long than too short. The intent of a Motorcycle jacket is to have longer sleeves for riding, reaching out and grasping handlebars. That's also why they work best for those with longer arms.

You would likely spend a lot of $$$ (shipping and fees) to hardly get any satisfaction in the results.
