Chalk and cheese. Older the better every time.
This one has the seal hh trim so is better than the cheaper Steerhide version which was russet. I just prefer the dense pile of the Merino fleece. I also prefer the snaps on the pockets and throat latch ; the button pockets are less practical. I know the history as the original owner found it too small so it's almost unworn.
A 44 would be better for me as the early patterns were not quite right but this will do for now. The modern Eastmans use quithe a short pile at 18 mm. Aero use 22 mm which is perfect. I think this is very similar but curly.
John, the Anj-4 shown in the second row, 4th from right. Is that a RMC ? Doesn't that have all the qualities you are looking for ?
