I wonder how easy it would be for Aero to make one of those - I've come to like the mixed batch more than the single colour types.
Butte, that M444a is made by The Few, so you can imagine the nosebleed price tag that comes attached to it!
The Few have a very odd approach to ANJ-4s, btw. Anyone feeling some love for these?

That top one appears too "busy" for my taste, although I am not a fan of two tone jackets and prefer the understated look of the one on the Harley. Craig, have you made your selection yet for the trim on your ANJ-4? We are all eagerly awaiting fit pics on arrival.

Only joking! Actually, this thread has been really helpful and interesting in terms of getting my mind straight on my final choice. I'm going to go with the goat. I think it gets the balance of character, utilitarianism and accuracy that I'm looking for. It shouldn't be too far away from production, but this is a really busy time of year for the factory, loads of Christmas presents being produced! Lucky people...

Anyhow @Sloan1874 - mixed is nice. I like the darker fur on that top one, albeit likely not "legit" in strict terms.
So, are you getting it to be accurate or enjoyable? I like the different ones you're posting. Sorry, but the same old **it is made over and over and why not go a little creative? I've had my share of the "true to the times" stuff and next jacket(s) - whenever that is - will be not the same. Just my 2¢ pal...

Blimey, don't tell Andrew you put shearling jackets in the washing machine, he'll get the vapours! The potentially for grubby cuffs was one thing but I actually found the way the cuffs sat on me uncomfortable, and when I tried on the ANJ after it, I was struck how easy to wear it was. Fantastic B-3, and in fantastic condition, though!

My Grandfather was in the Fleet Air Arm during the war. Stuff like shearling trousers was washed on a regular basis because aircrew used to piss in them ! Also the gear was rotated between those on flying duty.

I'd not seen that caramel ANJ-4 before - and although I prefer historical accuracy by nature, I must say, that one looks rather okay to me! I think the caramel facings would wear and darken nicely ... different. I like it.
But then you posted that photo of a bad-a$$ on the bike there - and now THAT is how you wear an ANJ-4! Wow. Very cool!
He looks so tough! Imagine having an affair with his wife and HE comes home unexpectedly and roars onto the drive on that bike and looking like THAT! Oh sweet Jesus.

The seal facings will look very nice. Are you going to add the leather triangle (used to clip an oxygen hose) on the chest as well? I like that added touch on the Aero ANJ-4 (that ELC do not add) - and think that it'd be a nice touch, negating the need for a name tag - it's just enough of an interesting detail, I think.

Looking forward to seeing the jacket!

I'm having the russet stitching, it's a nice, low-key touch. I'm not going to have the triangle, it just feels unnecessary, though I get the accuracy thing - it's not on the one goat version that I've seen. The affair things sounds like damn hard work, tbh...

Russet stitching? I've not seen that. Hopefully you can grab a close-up photo for us when you get the jacket.

As for the affair thing, I've never had one. But I was on a first date one time with someone I'd been chatting up for ages at the hospital where I worked, and we were in a pub in Northampton and we were getting along nicely, but she kept looking at the door. I asked if she was looking for someone.
"My ex boyfriend. He comes in here every now and again."
"Oh" I said. "Er, a recent ex?"
"Yes", she replied. [sees the look on my face] "Oh, don't worry. He won't cause any trouble. He knows that I only have to say one word about the shotgun in the boot of his car and he'll be in trouble. He doesn't have a license for it any more and it'd violate his restraining order. He doesn't need any more trouble."
"Oh." <gulp> "What's he do for a living?"
"He works at an aboittoir."
I drank up and called it a night. We never went out again.
I just imagine he could have looked like the man on the bike.

LOL! I never thought about my body disappearing! You're so right! At the time, I was just thinking of long knives and a bloody apron! It was as far as my imagination would let me go.
I'm sure the russet stitching will be a very nice, distinct - yet subtle - touch, and will do just that.
I really look forward to seeing it.

I think the colourful ones would be hard to live with over time. It's nice to have 'statement' pieces, but I've made loopy purchases in the past where they get pulled out two or three times but eventually I realised that I didn't lead the sort of starry lifestyle that justified owning them.

I think you nailed it on the head. The novelty of the caramel ANJ-4 would wear off in time - but an original type would be timeless style, and it's why they (and A2s and B-6s etc) all endure changing fashions and trends.
