Schott B3 for Winter driving?

Hi, I’m looking to get a Schott b3 for driving in the cold mornings of winter in my convertible with the top down. Would this be a good fit? I’d be driving mostly before the sun came up. Also, what is it like to wear one? I like the idea of the thick shearling interior, but wanted to get personal experiences.

Can't comment on the Schott but I have a shearling I've worn in mine and its fine but it doesn't feel the warmest of jackets for this kind of driving and its very bulky.

The best thing I got last year was a heated gilet, powered by a little battery pack. Wish I'd got one years ago.

Of all the first world problems you can think of, the most first world solution to this one is driving with the top up.
Ah, but have you considered: it fun tho ;)
I’ve also just wanted one for a long time, this is more a creative application. Plus, I have to be commenting that early in the morning, I might as well make it a good time. I certainly didn’t get my Miata to drive top up all the time!

Bulky sheepskin jacket may be restrictive, and not much can be done about it. If worn inside a small car like Miata, B-3 jacket may not "fit" the seat or even the interior of the car in some spots.

Exactly. Put the top up. Problem solved. That would keep the wind off of his head and his face. He could still leave the heat off and wear his B3.

Decades ago, when I used to drive a Jeep, I would happily drive right through the snowy depths of Winter with the roof off (and the doors off). I wore a cheapo puffer and a woolly hat.

But I wasn't trying to look like a fighter pilot.

Big coat wise I've settled on a deck jacket myself if its properly cold. That seems to work the best for warmth vs less bulk. But the heated gilet, they do jackets too I believe, means pretty much any jacket it fits under works and you can switch it on and off or up and down as needed.
