Royalist Brand: What's the skinny?

Is anyone familiar with the Royalist brand of fur felt hats? I found several boxes of them during the move yesterday. (See this thread for background on the situation http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=26205.)

I haven't found much here at the lounge regarding Royalist, but I haven't had much time to do a lot of research either!

The owner of store told me Royalist hats were on par with Stetson.

Do any of you have experience with this brand?

I haven't run across it in my research, but I think you said in another thread that it was a UK brand, and I know very little about the hats from across the pond. I hope one of our overseas friends can chime in on this one.

Although, it will take some time to go through all of the hats. I'll try to get to the more interesting hats, first.

Another random brand is MacLane. I think I've got 2 or 3 boxes of that brand, which usually translates to 2 or 3 hats, per box.

Anyone heard of MacLane brand hats?

AS REQUESTED: Photos of the elusive Royalist hat

Here's the scoop...

The owner tells me that Royalist and Stetson were the 2 brands sold up until the late 40s. They are comparable quality, and I have to agree that these are amazing hats.

The only problem is that the moths and time have had their way with my Royalist hats. I've posted a superb example, but I can't give you much more information about the brand.

I don't think they are an English company... I think they were just marketed in the "English Style".

Enough talk... Here is the hat:

Wow Josh, I just did a double take on this after seeing the Wadsworth in the New Hats thread. Quite the pair those two, they seem to be nearly two peas in a pod! I like 'em both.

Well, I don't know anything about either brand. but the liner similarity certainly makes me wonder if they were somehow connected? Maybe this is general knowledge to everyone here (or not?), but I have no idea. Just comparing the two...

I didnt think Johnny had any hats left. The hat was definately made in the USA.
