Relining sleeves…shout out to LCS & Dena Hamilton

So a while back I got my hands on an indigo Y’2 type 1 and it fit me perfect. Like you know when you know right from that first moment you put it in. Confidence inspiring piece than made me really smile.
Not long after…maybe a few weeks…I noticed here in SoCal the temperature climate led to it being a tad warm at times, particularly in the sleeves as Y’2 uses a black nylon lining that doesn’t really breathe. So I started poking around about relining as a solution.
I found a bemberg cupro I liked and went down the net rabbit hole to double check it would be appropriate for my application. Turned out to be the perfect sleeve lining, and I really liked the pattern of what I chose, and the weight (cupro comes in different weights…news to me…) was ideal for a temperate climate, but not so thin it would tear easily.
So next I had to find someone to do the job. I read that working with leather you need a person who will try to use the same holes as closely as possible or the leather weakens. That research led me to Leather Care Specialists Dena Hamilton - a person whom when I called answered the phone herself.
After a brief exchange I agreed to send her the jacket, and told her to let me know when she received it. Four days later I got a confirmation all was good and the eagle had landed.
Two weeks later she called to let me know now it was done, and she would be shipping it back to me. I mailed her a check, and she mailed me my jacket and it arrived a half hour ago and I am over the moon pleased with her work and attention to detail.
So anyhow just giving a big shout out to an honest lady who has reasonable rates for first class work and service. And here’s a few pictures.
