Regarding reproductions of the jacket known as the French Cyclist Jacket, or the Hartmann Jacket.

Hi everyone, I’ve recently been looking for reproductions of the jacket commonly referred to as the Hartmann Jacket. Compared with A-2s and similar flight jackets, there don’t seem to be many makers producing them. Do you have any makers or specific jackets you’d recommend? Personally, I’m looking for something with that slightly clunky, old-fashioned vintage silhouette.

I was already aware that Y’2 Leather makes a reproduction model, but I’m not a fan of the pattern—I feel it’s been modernized too much in terms of silhouette. The version released by Adjustable Costume is also manufactured by Y’2 Leather. If I remember correctly, the main difference between the two is that Adjustable Costume uses their own reproduced hardware, such as the buckles.

So, have you pulled the trigger on one yet?

About 10 years ago, I Iooked into this type of jacket and ended up buying the Eastman. I preferred the Ostmann over the Hartmann, but both are well made with Eastman quality. Several members here have the Hartmann and a few have the Ostmann.

Thanks for your message! No, I haven't purchased one yet. I'm interested in the Good Wear one that Kermit told me about, but I haven't taken any concrete steps toward ordering one yet.
