This WWI jacket has been out there. $4500, Tokyo. . But it looks authentic. Flap pockets are square instead of curved. Thoughts?
That particular seller has quite the collection of peacoats for sale. All very steeply priced. I'm guessing if at least one bites it pays for the lot. I noticed she has many WW2 coats in quite poor shape listed for 500 or more.Looks authentic to me as well.
He sure is proud of that coat to put that price on it.
I wish it had a tag in it.
Other items are overpriced as well. She had one 1980s sweatshirt for $780 and another one for $2300. Good luck. That particular seller has quite the collection of peacoats for sale. She prices things high. It is a strategy. I might come in with a reasonable offer and see what happens. I sent her a message with some questions about the inside. Not many pics.Looks authentic to me as well.

I was thinking more about this. I received an almost new WWII coat that was in storage since the war according to the seller. Included with the sale were white spats and belt and an interesting kersey wool bag with the bottom hem not sewn. After your mention of sea bags and storage, I wonder if this bag was used to cover the coat while in storage. Or if this is an actual sea bag. It fits the jacket almost perfectly. The bag had two layers of kersey wool. Super heavy. Each sailor has a personal locker that holds his uniforms, including his peacoat, if desired. There is also a storage room where sea bags and other bulky items are stored Often their peacoats are kept there as they are only worn when coming into port
That is a cover for the peacoat (which I have never seen before) and not a sea bag which is much larger. She prices things high. It is a strategy. I might come in with a reasonable offer and see what happens. I sent her a message with some questions about the inside. Not many pics.
Thanks for sharing the link!Congrats, you now own a piece of history- an iconic one at that. Yours looks great and you picked it up in a hard to find size. The 10 button coats (8 showing) are WWII…there’s a great a peacoat dating thread on here:

Well, that's an easy fix.Peacoat - I haven't received any posts because there has not been any activity. Therefore, no posts.
For some odd reason, I have seen more large WWII style peacoats with the Coast Guard label. The jackets are identical. Search "vintage coast guard peacoat".I'm stumbled upon this board many years ago on my search for the proper ww2 peacoat and was since then exited to hunt one down in my size around 42 to 44. It's absolutely rare to find one in this size and good quality. At least often is the shipping same expensive to germany. If anyone got a hint for one then I would appreciate it.
I just checked, there is a 40-42 out there now. I would have the owner confirm the measurements. For some odd reason, I have seen more large WWII style peacoats with the Coast Guard label. The jackets are identical. Search "vintage coast guard peacoat".

Two or three weeks ago I stumbled across a Coast Guard peacoat on eBay. It's a WWII in the Very rare size of 48Long. It fits me a tinch big as my usual size in peacoats is 46 or 46Long. However, this coat is in Beautiful condition. I will be submitting photos of it after I get it back from the cleaners. This coat weighs a TON. I always wondered if Long sizes existed in the WWII and early post war coat sizes - I guess they do. I also have a WWII in size 46 which is in Beautiful condition also.
If this is a true 42, then I would jump on it immediately.
