What a catch! Congratulations!
What a catch! Congratulations!
No way definitive but i chased low Lot #s awhile back. Thanks, guys. I've done a lot of looking through the Lot # thread to see the hats but I've never paid much attention to the numbers. Guess I need to do some reading. I have another No. 1 with a lot # in the 3XXX's so, knowing this hat was an earlier one was the extent of my knowledge.

Thanks, JJ. You and I both have had a bit of recent success. What a catch! Congratulations!
Thank you, Ross. Now comes the hard part for me; trying to figure out the crease the hat wants. So good, BB! Can’t wait to see it in the WHAYWT thread. Great find
Thanks RY! The liner was a freebie I threw in there from an Etsy purchase. I’ll eventually swap it out with something better. I think red would look nice but it’ll do for now!Man it certainly does belong! Don’t believe I’ve ever seen that type of size tag from Stetson too, it’s a great No. 1! How bout that liner?
Most excellent!I think this belongs here. Stetson Carlsbad I got last year. Threw on this beaver brand hat band to give it some zest and cover up the awful eyelets someone put in there for a stampede strap. I think it still looks classy! Thanks B. The LOT # is so faded that I had to stare at photos from different angles as well as shine a flashlight on it from different angles to make out some numbers. Tried matching whatever ink is left to the photos posted on here. Luckily my eyes adjusted and I made out the following. Most excellent!
The eyelet fix adds character.
B
Ps: bet it has a pretty low Lot #.
Thank you Brent. I really cherish my westerns!Beautiful hat, my friend. You have some real grail hats in your collection.
Now that Im looking at it again, maybe the first digit is an 8??Thanks B. LOT 3465. I could be wrong on the first digit but I’m certain about the last 3. I’ll add a pic and you’ll see why I’m struggling!
Thank you Brent. I really cherish my westerns!

Having recently watched a couple of 1930's western movies, I can say they had some tall crowns during that timeframe. The Carlsbad's 7" crown was probably somewhat modest for that day, huh?I think this belongs here. Stetson Carlsbad I got last year. Amusing comments aside, that is a nice hat.
Indeed! Here it is described as having "conservative proportions."
And I thought I was being amusing...
Thanks Joe! It might become a daily driver for meOne Badd a$$ hat there Jesse
Thanks ILB! All hats aside, it's really the amusing comments that keep me coming back to TFLAmusing comments aside, that is a nice hat.
JLee, Thank you for digging up and sharing this catalog image. So friggen exciting to see it in print like this. Amazing how the conservative cowboy hat proportions are still considered rather large for today..
