1920s Stetson no.1 Quality western

This hat is black felt, and has a single cord hat band/ribbon. The brim is a raw edge.

Inside, we find a label that reads "MAJ. GEN. C. C. HAFFNER, JR", which leads me to believe that Maj. Gen. Haffner was an owner of this example.

Maj. Gen Haffner served during World War II, he commanded the 58th Field Artillery Brigade, made up of the 122nd, 123rd and 124th Field Artillery regiments. He later became a major general and commander of the 103rd Infantry Division of the Seventh Army. After military service, he became the chairman of the R.R. Donnelly and Sons Company, printers in Chicago (where he worked before the war).
