I have a fascination for black hats, although this year I have been practically absent from the market by choice.
The collection is now too bulky and needs to be sorted out.

Today I show you a black homburg, the most usual for this type of hat

What attracted me was its very English form.

The hat does not have a well-defined origin, although the size label is typically English and the paper label partially certifies its origin.

Sold in Brussels - Belgium, it has three feathers as its trademark with the following written in the circle below them: Lightness - Solidity - Elegance. In the semicircle below "Best Quality London"


These are the measurements: the fully opened crown is 13 centimetres, the ribbon is 4 centimeters and the curled wings are 5.5 centimetres. The size is 7 1/8 UK size, or 58 centimetres.

Nice find, Daniele. I think the manufacturer is Belgian and the same maker that made Brummel's hats. Here's one of the Brummel's labels.

Thanks a lot Stefan. I had the memories to have seen the paper label in some other hat, but now it is perfectly clear.
It is a Beneluxury product. The first I suppose in my hands.

Having uhmed & arhed for longer than I can remember over whether red hats have the right "look," I have finally bought one. It was bespoke of course, made by a company called Denton Hats, ( https://dentonhats.wixsite.com/my-site ) but wouldn't you know, I asked for a burgundy ribbon and it came back black. It looks okay and rather than complain, I just took it and think that maybe I will get a milliner to make a burgundy one.

Now, I'm guessing, Loungers want me to pose in it. Just let me get used to the idea of owning a red hat first.

The Black Band helps mellow out the burgundy, I have a Biltmore "Canadian Suede" which was a Burgandy hat with a Burgandy Ribbon, I switched it with a Black ribbon and it helped with Clothing style options, but we all have different taste

I recently picked up a pair of Byer-Rolnick San Antonio OR clones. The paper label inside the sweatband shows $11.95. I‘m guessing these are 50s or 60s?

It's the home of The British Motor Museum and it's where the MG Car Club are holding the centenary celebrations for MG car's, 100th birthday. https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/news/mg-centenary


The MG shirt that Tina made for me, do you like the buttons? She made them out of lapel pins, anyway the shirt will get washed and pressed in good time. Now shall I top off this unique shirt with my new hat?

Second black hat bought during the horribly hot Italian summer.

It had been on sale for some time and no one offered, so I asked the seller for some clarification and here it is.
It is one of the types of hats that most fascinate me due to its shape and felt from the production of the 1920s and 1930s.

The felt is a wool blend with an interesting touch and that brightness that is typical of black blended felts.

The shape is the one called "Lord hat" with flat brims and raised at the edges. There are still stitches on the tape, but the sweatband is hard and not very malleable

Feltrex size 58 or 7 1/4 in the USA. Sold in Cambrai - France

The brims are 6 centimeters, the open crown is 14 centimeters and the ribbon is 2.5 centimeters high.

I think it is a French product from the years mentioned above, or some felt imported from Germany or Central Europe

Introducing 1940's Mallory "The Mallory Ten" 7 1/8 Premier Quality, You are So Correct about the Dating of this Fedora @TheOldFashioned , The Quality of this Felt is Soft, Very Moldable For a Dry Hand Crease, The Snap of the Brim is Very Flemsy only because of age but I know how to fix that, there is some Loosening of the Sweatband that can also be fixed aswell, But Once I Looked on the Inside of the Sweatband is where I found something very Astonishing about the age of this hat, on the Inside there is a $10 Dollor Sticker attached to the inside of the Sweat band, Also there is a Union sticker and then There is a another Sticker that's Halfway Hidden and it States the Size 7 1/8 and what's Covered is what I'm assuming is the Serial number to this hat which is Stuck to the Liner and Also some Form of Paper that's Holding the Liner in, Now I've rarely Seen a Liner Held in by this type of paper, Anyone who knows history about this Type of Technique used to hold Liners in Please put your 2 Cents in and inform us Loungers, This was and Awesome Find and For Such a Cheap Price I got it for ..... I Think I'm taking to the Grave with me LOL,hope you all enjoy, Yours Truly-"PinchFrontKid"

I've got the exact same tape holding the liner into a good quality Champ. I assumed that meant that the Champ was a late model but your Mallory is from the 40s so my assumption might not be accurate.

Thanks for posting, I really like my Champ and dislike thinking of it as "a late model"!
