My new Hufvud arrived yesterday evening. This is my first true custom, and my first experience with felt that contains a notable amount of beaver. Mikael's work is astounding. The felt is light, soft and flexible, but holds its shape like nobody's business.

I love the blue tones in the emerald gray felt, and Mikael's bash really suits me, so I'm leaving it alone. My head measures 57.5 cm, so this is the first hat that fits me perfectly. I'm smitten.

Did Mossant use beaver felt in all their hats?

Sorry for the late reply but no, they didn't. Only if the hat specifically said "castor hudson" it was made of (or with) beaver felt.

A few hats came in this week, all of them French. First one.

Léon Gris Australien camber style hat by Mossant. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Has some mothing unfortunately but it's still a nice wearable hat. The brim has that extremely fine lip on it that I've only seen on Léon hats. Weighs 120 grams.

Second one is this bowler, sold by Chappellerie des 4-8 of Bordeaux, France. Size 56 with the brim at 4,5 cm and the crown at 12cm. Weighs 140 grams. No label under the sweatband.
I don't need another bowler, but when I looked at the crown patch I just had to get it; cartoony and cute.

Third one.
Mossant camber style hat for Brosson, Toulouse in a grey heather called Chiné Russe. Size 60 with the overwelt double stitched brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Weighs 120 grams. Nice hand to the felt and an interesting style. I'm guessing forties.

Pedigree porkpie back-bow. Cool triple stitched binding. The felt appears supple enough to recrease if desired.

Brent I'll try to give you a coherent answer to your question about a Spanish hat, probably made partly or entirely in Italy.
ISESA was, or perhaps still is, the largest Spanish hat manufacturer in recent years. About ten years ago their catalog had some nice hats, then everything seemed to stop. Appears under another name https://www.fernandezyroche.com/gb/
The hat has a label with general wording in Spanish regarding the type and color, specific stampings in Italian. Liviano was the seat of my university in Padua and "Acero N." means black maple. In Spanish black maple is arce negro.
Velousin looks like a combination of velor and melousine.
My guess as to who did it goes towards Cappellificio Cervo, or Vanzina, but the world of Italian subcontractors was very varied and it happened that "rival" hat manufacturers collaborated.
