Dobbs "Pseudo Milan". I don't care if it's pseudo, I find it beautiful and perfect for a round of golf when it might rain.

Resistol Fifteen Gay Prince style. 5 1/2” open crown and 2 1/2” brim. The felt is a wonderful suede finish cedar brown. The seller didn’t know the size, but it’s a 7 3/8 and not the 7 5/8 I was hoping for. The hat is very lightweight and easily dry creased.

This is the first Resistol I’ve seen in the Gay Prince style. Has anyone else see on of these? It’s off to eBay, so feel free to send me a PM if you’re interested.

Is it just me... or does Resistol manage to get a bit of ruggedness out of this style that Dobbs does not.

Here's an interesting one (I think). Saw this hat on an auction site (note that the pic was less than half this size; I've upscaled it here). The description was "Hat from London. One size."
tonak jota auction.jpeg

Wrote to the seller if she could take a look under the sweatband to see what size it actually was. No reply. Made an offer. No reply. Even though it was certainly a velour hat I decided to skip it. Fast forward a few months and while I was browsing the site again I remembered this hat and searched for it. Sure enough it was still there. The price was not an obstacle and I had been lucky with the gamble hats lately, so I decided to go for it.
A few days later a huge box shows up with a hat inside, no other packing material, not even a plastic bag. O well, the hat was ok it seemed. Out came this one.
Tonak Jota velour in a size 57 or 58 (label says 5-58), but fits me remarkably well. Great caramel colour with the raw edge brim at 6,5 cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. The velour felt had some flat spots from storage, but some steaming and brushing took care of that. Wonderful hand to the felt and very soft.
Not from London and not one size, but boy am I glad I decided to take the gamble.
The label unfortunately doesn't state the date of manufacture (under "Tyden") as they usually do. I've only seen Jota quality hats from Hückel, so likely this was made shortly after the war just after Hückel was nationalised and made into Tonak and they still used the old Hückel quality names. Only flaw is that the liner is missing. The sweatband is worthy of note as it is 5,5cm wide! One of the widest I've seen.

As with Stefan: Sometimes you just have to be lucky...
I gave a hat a chance, which was actually specified with 56 cm
and therefore intended for Panos. The condition and the bad pictures
made me/us suspect that it was an old (30s/40s) dark blue Woolie.
The price was unbeatable with 7€ (including shipping!) anyway...

When the package arrived yesterday, I was shocked at first,
because the box containing the hat was slightly larger than my hand!
I feared the worst...
Apart from the compressed state, it quickly turned out that the hat
unfortunately would not fit Panos - because it is a 58!
Lucky for me (sorry again, Panos).
A look at the logo on the sweat told me that it was a postwar hat
(certainly 50s): VEB Vereinigte Hutwerke Guben!
The actual dark blue felt (Yeah!) also turned out to be a wool-hair mix.
However, the condition was so badly deteriorated that I couldn't really tell
what the original shape was. I opted for an oldschool version with a deep
crease and gave the hat a lot of cleaning, brushing and steaming.
Here is the result:

The logo sadly is difficult to recognize

Later I found a hat on Steve's wonderful site that belongs to Chris
(here from the lounge) and is the same model in gray
- same shape/design of ribbon & sweat, same logo and label.
However, the lining has unfortunately been lost on mine.

Nice catch, Matt. It has a really nice deep blue colour to it.
