Post New Hats Here!

[Rmccamey]

Sometimes it is nice to say "Merry Christmas to me!"

Yes it was, Randy. After a hat drought all summer and fall a few finally showed up. Good thing I held of on my Christmas shopping for myself.

Well, this Pietro Fratelli hat turned out to easily have the worst felt of my entire collection, and that's counting the "The Untouchables Collection" 100% wool hat that I bought as a gag.
Terrible!

Daniele warned me about buying it, but I didn't listen. Fortunately, it was a cheap eBay find. Ivano found it in a box with other old hats that will arrive today with my brother-in-law Juan Carlos, and I hope the others, that are from ofher brands, are better than this one.
I don't blame Ivano, though. He said he didn't know about hats from the beginning.
I just know the other hats will be good[emoji1696].

Max, did you purchase any of the Canadian made hats that he had for sale like the brock? If they are from the Brockville factory my guess is they will be very high quality. I have 3 Stetsons that came from the Brockville factory and the felt is in my opinion nicer than US made of the same vintage when compared to what I own. Although I may have some bias

Regardless I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I think I will be purchasing a 'Boulter Redmond' Canadian made 1930's homburg from him.

I just received them and haven't inspected them carefully, but I think you're right.
Thin, Borsalino-like felt.

And this Borsalino. I think it says Toscano and Idornca on the label.

That's a helluva haul. Keep riding that hot streak!

[Frunobulax]

Great felt and ribbon combo on that one, Jim. Looks like a super find.

Michael

Thanks. Yer killin' me with that San Antonio. Great find.

That's a fantastic find, Michael. Colour me envious! Can you post a picture of the label? For archival reasons.

Sorry to hear that, Max. It does know how to pose for a picture though, because it certainly looks good.

Yes, it was a nice break after the cold spell. I'm going to try to keep pedaling and hope the warmth continues.

Thanks. Yer killin' me with that San Antonio. Great find.

The San Antonio is a good one. The first one I've actually handled. Now I can compare it to a couple of Stetson OR silverbellies and see how that match up. I think it will be favorably.

Thanks Stefan. I'll try to get a photo of the label eventually, but the sweat is a little fragile in that area, so I'm not going to peek at it again until it's had a few conditioner treatments. Seems to be some nice felt in this one and I think I'll be wearing it today.

Thanks all,
Michael

2 3/8" Custom Edge brim Knox Twenty. Missing it's liner and a bit large for me.

Just now reading this Michael. If it fits well enough that you're going to keep & wear it PM me an address & Ill send you a clean Knox twenty liner.

Thanks for the offer, Jack. Very generous. I think the jury will be out for a week or two on whether I can get it to an acceptable fit. But I'm hoping, it's a nice bit of felt.

Thanks,
Michael

[Qrowin]

Just received a bluegrass green Campdraft for Christmas. I'm really liking the colour. The felt was firm, but not too firm which is better then the two ****** proof fed IVs I have. The only issue was the brim. It was ridiculously stuff, still is, but took the steam well. Now the whole thing is pretty stiff, but I'm sure it will soften over time.

If the fit comes in, the offer will stand.

1930s Canadian Standard Quality Stetson. Immaculate. It even smells new.

My Taupe Fawn Campdraft was absurdly stiff when I received it, even for an Akubra. It actually took some effort to snap the front of the brim down the first few times, and it almost immediately snapped right back up. It took a couple of years and re-shaping the crown and brim three or four times, but now it isn't any stiffer than my other Akubras.

Boulter Homburg. 1910, maybe?
The rectangular piece of paper with the pencil writing was hidden beneath the ribbon

Boulter Redmond. Rich, brown felt. It can be appreciated in the second picture
