Second hat of the day. The first Borsalino of this deal

A classic lobbia Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore in grey.

Size tagged 5 1/2 so it is 58 centimeter, but not at all, it is a 5 or a 7 US size. No paper label

The production is the Borsalino historical era and the felt and finishes are very well made

The felt is medium-light grey and soft and it was sold inMilan in the fifities

I like in this classical Borsalino homburg the contrasting ribbon and the very well made details

The proportions are: curled brim to 5 cm., Crown to 11 cm. and ribbon at 4 centimeter

The hat is very little used and, apart from the dust, removed, it is perfect

Unpleasantly it is another hat, along with the "Sombrero" show today, that will have to leave since it is a "fez" on my head

It has a label in paper or what remains and an indication of size 55 cm. or 6 7/8.

It looks great. Sadly it's for pinheads...

Hi chaps, Just acquired this nice Austin Reed grey/blue velour yesterday for a £5....really fortunate, don't think the seller had a clue about hats. It"s stamped 1939 on the inside of the sweatband, not sure if it had a liner originally, any thoughts? Also has an interesting detail to the edge of the sweat, a bit like a Borso if you no what i mean!!

Very nice find, Mike and for the price you can never go wrong. I don't think it ever had a liner. I've seen these felt spacers between the sweat and the felt before somewhere on the lounge, but I can't remember on what brand of hat that was.

New-to-me Glenburnie "For Discriminating Men."

There was some newspaper stuffed into the sweatband. Sports pages from what looked to be the Terre Haute area. There were no dates, but clues enough in articles to date the newspaper to February 1954. No idea how old the hat is and no other information on the maker.

Very nice, dense felt with a soft hand. Kinda wrinkly when I got it, but some steam and effort last night got it into shape. Very nice hat. I'm a fan of the off brands.

The hat is part of a deal involving two Borsalino

It is certainly one of the most bizarre hats I have found on the Italian market

It was sold in Valencia - Spain, but the hat was certainly made in Italy

Sabanero - Fabbricato in Italia was erasered. I believe it was made in Monza or maybe from Vanzina.

It has a label in paper or what remains and an indication of size 55 cm. or 6 7/8.

and there is indication it is waterproof

The felt of this hat is twice as heavy as a dress hat

It was clean and came to me without lining, as long as there was one and the sweatband is still soft.
The excellent felt has a short finish fur and the honey color is magnificent

The ribbon is low and slightly lighter than the color of the felt

The measures are as follows: open crown to 15 cm, curled brim to 9.5 cm and ribbon at 1.5 cm.

Two excellent and interesting hats, Daniele. The sweatband being stamped as a larger size than the hat itself is something I have seen fequently on hats of any brand.

I ordered one of Mike's of Northwest hat company off-the-rack hats. He will cut the brim and shape the crown to order for $195! He ships within 24 hours. This hat is "bronze" Tonak with charcoal ribbon

I think it might be 1959. It was made by P. & C. Habig Wien (Austria). The "Ventilo" (Felt Vents) are from P. & C. Habig Wien. Here is an example (there others in the thread).

Well it arrived.
Stiff as a hard hat... what to expect from a modern hat and it's a 20x of something since it's not specified.
By my measures open crown is 6.5" and 4 1/4" brim. I'll probably make it a center dent instead of the cattleman that annoys me because it makes the top touch my head. Fits great and the hatband is not a self band of felt.
It's not a Resistol Panda but it pleases me.

Here's the new one (for me at least). I showed a glipse of it yesterday. Borsalino Ergosca in M (misto) Acciaio (steel). So heather steel or mix steel is the colour name. Overwelt brim slightly under 7cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. It's more stiff than the angora hats owned by Mike and Bowen, but it's a nice one to add to the collection. I thought the metal colours of borsalino were exhausted, and then this shows up.

Here's something we don't see every day. A borsalino formal hat (not a homburg but more formal than that). Borsalino Ascot in Argento colour. I thought it to be older than it in fact is. If the label theory holds up this should be 1979. It's a bit more dirty than the pictures show, but I haven't cleaned it yet. I won't wear it anyway. Came with a nice borsalino box too.
I do have another ascot, made by Tonak, but this one leave that one at the starting line, never to be seen again.
