After hanging out in the lounge for the past couple of years, and observing everyone sporting these fabulous Gannon hats, and after prompting by @Tukwila to get one , and after seeing @Woodtroll’s whiskey colored fedora, I finally broke down and ordered one. Couldn’t be happier.

Needless to say, I like it! ;) The brim binding adds a nice touch, and it looks sharp on you. I hope you get many happy years of wear out of it!

A very nice looking hat! I like that color combo also; anything with the bright or vintage copper colors. I'm in the Gannon queue myself and can't wait for my own "Christmas present". Thanks for sharing.

I have been justifying not ordering a Gannon. The argument goes like this:

-"You already have a bunch of modern custom hats. There is nothing to gain from a new one".

-"Yeah, but I don't have a Gannon"

-"You have two VS, and they are kind of similar to Gannons"

-"Yeah, but I want a Gannon"

-"OK, wait and see if one shows up on eBay or the Classifieds"

-"I doubt it. Everyone hangs on to theirs. That's why I want one"

It was a temptation and after a week I can't resist
Cappelli Brescia.jpg

The same seller and a very unusual trio of hats for an Italian man living not so far from Verona
The hats arrived it was almost dark, so I brushed and little steamed to have the felt more malleable, now they are resting.
The most unusal is this sombrero, so it is call, sold in Valencia - Spain but made in Italy. Size 55 cm.
Sombrero.jpg

The classic homburg or "lobbia" is made by Borsalino in a classic grey with contrasting ribbon. Size is 5 1/2 but it seems to me more a 5
Lobbia.jpg

The rare bowler in grey with contrasting ribbon and "Misto" felt, it is the oldest of the bunch with size written by hand. Size is 5
Bombetta ridotta.jpg

Tomorrow they will be shaped and pictured with daylight for the right color with interiors and paper label
If someone is interesting in one or more of these hats PM, they are not of my size

Yes, you want one. As a matter of fact if you don't get one; I would be worried about you. I do enjoy watching you percolate with your passion for collecting hats. The VS hats are great and the Gannon hats are great. Both hat makers are master artisans who have different styles, and you are a man who would appreciate the variety. It's wonderful that we have such fantastic options.

Hi chaps, Just acquired this nice Austin Reed grey/blue velour yesterday for a £5....really fortunate, don't think the seller had a clue about hats. It"s stamped 1939 on the inside of the sweatband, not sure if it had a liner originally, any thoughts? Also has an interesting detail to the edge of the sweat, a bit like a Borso if you no what i mean!!

Head shot.

b2b0f697d1328eb89bae52645722b8be.jpg

There was some newspaper stuffed into the sweatband. Sports pages from what looked to be the Terre Haute area. There were no dates, but clues enough in articles to date the newspaper to February 1954. No idea how old the hat is and no other information on the maker.

Very nice, dense felt with a soft hand. Kinda wrinkly when I got it, but some steam and effort last night got it into shape. Very nice hat. I'm a fan of the off brands.

The hat is part of a deal involving two Borsalino
24b9fkn.jpg

It is certainly one of the most bizarre hats I have found on the Italian market
2ludon5.jpg

It was sold in Valencia - Spain, but the hat was certainly made in Italy
2dkk5k8.jpg

Sabanero - Fabbricato in Italia was erasered. I believe it was made in Monza or maybe from Vanzina.
2r73s0o.jpg

It has a label in paper or what remains and an indication of size 55 cm. or 6 7/8.
qzkfpi.jpg

and there is indication it is waterproof
2j61klk.jpg

The felt of this hat is twice as heavy as a dress hat
10nvrq9.jpg

It was clean and came to me without lining, as long as there was one and the sweatband is still soft.
The excellent felt has a short finish fur and the honey color is magnificent
6fa9us.jpg

The ribbon is low and slightly lighter than the color of the felt
2zecrk0.jpg

The measures are as follows: open crown to 15 cm, curled brim to 9.5 cm and ribbon at 1.5 cm.
PM me if you are interesting in this hat
